Donald Trump Walked Into the Oval Office and Said What Every Parent in America Was Thinking

Sep 8, 2026

Three children are dead and the woman who killed them just walked out of court without a conviction.

Now a million dollars is pouring into her family's bank account.

But Donald Trump heard about the mistrial and said something from the Oval Office that stopped everyone cold.

What Happened in That Plymouth Courtroom

Lindsay Clancy strangled her three children – Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and baby Callan, just 8 months old – with exercise bands in January 2023.

She doesn't deny it.

Her defense argued she was in the grip of postpartum psychosis, driven to kill her children by a cocktail of prescription medications and delusional thinking.

Prosecutors said she planned it.

After 40 hours of deliberation, the jury couldn't reach a unanimous verdict – and Judge William F. Sullivan declared a mistrial.

Reportedly, all but one juror had favored an insanity verdict.

One holdout stood between Lindsay Clancy and a not-guilty finding.

"Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing," Trump told reporters minutes after the mistrial was declared. "Can't be worse."

Then came the part that cut through all the noise.

"There'll be a price," Trump said. "It's going to be a mental institution or jail or something."

Every parent in America already knew that.

Trump was the only one in power willing to say it out loud.

The Pattern That Should Alarm Every American Parent

This is not the first time a mother has killed her children and walked out of a courtroom without a murder conviction.

Andrea Yates drowned all five of her children in a Houston bathtub in 2001.

Convicted of murder on the first trial, she appealed – and won a not-guilty by reason of insanity verdict on retrial.

She has been housed in a state psychiatric facility ever since.

Otty Sanchez, also in Texas, committed infanticide while suffering postpartum psychosis.

Sanchez was found not guilty by reason of insanity in a plea deal and committed to a state psychiatric facility.

This is a pattern, not an anomaly.

Studies of infanticide cases involving postpartum psychosis found insanity pleas succeed in 15 to 27 percent of cases – compared to less than one-tenth of one percent of insanity defenses across all other criminal trials.

The system treats mothers who kill their children more leniently than virtually any other category of violent offender.

The Million-Dollar Question Nobody in the Media Is Asking

While the legal system figures out what comes next, a GoFundMe called the "Musgrove Family Fund" has blown past one million dollars.

The organizer just raised the target to three million.

Clancy's parents – Mike Musgrove, 70, and Paula Musgrove, 73 – uprooted their lives in Wallingford, Connecticut and moved 150 miles to Massachusetts to stay near their daughter throughout the trial.

Nobody is raising money for the Clancy children.

Nobody is setting up a fund for Patrick Clancy, the father who came home to find three of his children dead and his wife gravely injured.

Three million dollars flowing to the killer's family while her victims have no memorial fund tells you everything about where this culture has drifted.

The September 29 court date will determine what the prosecution does next – retry the case, cut a plea deal, or walk away entirely.

If they retry her and the next jury splits the same way, this ends with Lindsay Clancy in a psychiatric facility – which is where she's been housed since the murders anyway.

The three children she strangled will still be dead.

Cora was five years old.

Dawson was three.

Callan was eight months.

Their names deserve to be said out loud – because in the rush to debate postpartum psychosis and GoFundMe campaigns and what Trump said in the Oval Office, those three names keep getting lost.
