Donald Trump Told Ilhan Omar to Go Back to Somalia and She Has No Answer

May 16, 2026

Ilhan Omar spent years lecturing America about how to run itself.

Now Trump said the four words her entire career was waiting for – and she still has nothing to say.

He looked straight into the camera and told her to go back to Somalia, and every American who watched the Feeding Our Future trial already knows exactly why.

The $350 Million Reason Trump Said It

This did not come out of nowhere.

Minnesota just produced the largest pandemic fraud scheme in American history – $350 million stolen from a program designed to feed children.

Fraudsters submitted rosters of children who did not exist to collect federal reimbursements for meals that were never cooked.

They invented kids' names, printed fake invoices, and deposited the money into accounts that sent wire transfers overseas the same week.

The cash went to Porsches, Louis Vuitton bags, luxury hotels, and international real estate.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the DOJ had charged 98 individuals – 85 of Somali descent – and secured more than 60 convictions.

Five defendants are currently fugitives in Africa.

Trump said it plainly: the people Omar represents ripped off Minnesota, and she did nothing about it.

He is not wrong.

What Ilhan Omar Actually Did

Omar did not blow the whistle on the fraud.

She called Trump's comments "creepy" and said she hopes he "gets the help he desperately needs."

That is the response of someone who has no defense.

The woman who once sued the state of Minnesota for slowing payments to Feeding Our Future – claiming racial discrimination – turned out to represent the ground zero of the largest pandemic welfare fraud this country has ever seen.

The state auditor found that Minnesota officials were actually intimidated into backing off fraud investigations because of those litigation threats.

The fraudsters weaponized civil rights law to keep the money flowing.

And Ilhan Omar, the most prominent voice for that community in Washington, was nowhere.

This Is a Pattern, Not a Punch

Trump has been calling Omar out since 2019.

He told her and three other Squad members to "go back" to the countries they came from.

At a Pennsylvania rally, he encouraged the crowd to chant "send her back."

Every time, the media treated it as a scandal.

Every time, Omar fundraised off it and called it racist.

But something changed in 2025 and 2026.

The Feeding Our Future convictions kept coming.

Bondi sent a surge of additional federal prosecutors into Minnesota and announced more charges are coming.

The DOJ confirmed the total fraud figure could top $400 million.

Trump launched Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis, sending ICE into the same neighborhoods Omar has spent her career calling her base.

Now Trump is not just saying "go back" – he is connecting those words to a specific, documented, prosecuted catastrophe that happened on her watch, in her district, and apparently beneath her notice.

The Question Nobody Will Ask Her

Here is what no reporter in Minnesota will put to Ilhan Omar on camera:

Did you ever call for an investigation into Feeding Our Future?

Did you ever ask your constituents to cooperate with federal investigators?

Did you ever stand up and say that $350 million stolen from a children's nutrition program is unacceptable, full stop?

The record says no.

What she said instead was that Trump's rhetoric caused her death threats.

What she said is that the whole thing is racist.

Meanwhile, the ringleader of the scheme – Aimee Bock – was convicted in federal court.

The judge approved forfeiture of her Porsche, her Vuitton bags, and $5.2 million from her accounts.

Sixty-three people pleaded guilty or were convicted.

Trump did not manufacture this.

Federal prosecutors built this case from scratch because, as the Star Tribune reported, Minnesota state officials provided "little or no evidence" to help.

Walz did not stop it.

Omar did not stop it.

The FBI stopped it.

Trump looked at all of that – the fake kids, the stolen millions, the fugitives in Africa – and said what half the country had been thinking for three years.

Go back to your own country.
