NBC flew Kristen Welker all the way to Wisconsin to interview the President of the United States.
She spent an hour in the rain asking Trump questions that had one goal: make him look like a liar.
Then Trump said exactly what every conservative in America was thinking – and walked out.
Welker Kept Hitting the Same Wall
The interview covered Iran and the economy before landing on the topic Welker really wanted.
She pressed Trump on his proposed $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund – the one designed to compensate Americans targeted and destroyed by Biden's Justice Department.
Trump defended it plainly.
"People have been hurt so badly by radical left lunatics that worked for the Biden administration and Sleepy Joe," Trump told her.
When Trump pointed to California's ongoing vote count – which takes over a month to certify – as evidence that election problems were continuing, Welker did what every NBC anchor does.

She told the President of the United States, to his face, there was "no evidence."
Three words.
"Just to be very clear, there's no evidence of what you're saying," Welker said.
Trump didn't flinch.
"There's a lot of evidence," he said. "Listen to me. There's tremendous evidence. There's nothing but evidence."
How NBC Flew to Wisconsin to Produce One Clip
After Welker hit him with the "no evidence" wall a second time, Trump connected every dot.
"People like you, the fake dirty press, the crooked press, people like stupid Biden – he's not smart enough to know what's going on – but people that surrounded him, surrounded his beautiful Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, what they did to the lives of people, they destroyed people."
Then he delivered the verdict.
"Your elections are crooked. And you're crooked. And Meet the Press is crooked. And so is ABC and CBS and CNN."
He stood up.
Welker – who had brought her entire crew to a Wisconsin farm in the rain – tried to keep him in the chair.
"Mr. President, let's… please, I traveled all the way to Wisconsin," she said.
Trump wasn't interested.
"I sat in the rain with you for an hour," he told her. "On and off in the rain, and I've given you enough time. You ought to straighten out your press, because you know what? A country can never be great with a dishonest press."
He thanked her, called her "darling," and walked off camera.
Why the Ratings Keep Falling
This isn't a one-time flare-up.
Welker first interviewed Trump in September 2023 – her debut as Meet the Press moderator – and liberals melted down because they felt she wasn't hostile enough.
She interviewed him again after the 2024 election win, and conservatives noted the same pattern: liberal framing driving every question, Trump's answers dismissed rather than engaged.
Now Wisconsin – and the same loop, one more time.
Ask the question. Reject the answer. Declare no evidence exists. Repeat.
The Gallup organization documented last fall that Republican trust in the press has fallen to a record low of just 8% – the first time in the poll's 50-year history it has dropped into single digits.

Overall, just 28% of Americans trust television and newspapers to report the news fully and fairly, the lowest number ever recorded.
That number keeps falling because NBC keeps running the same play.
NBC didn't send Welker to Wisconsin to understand what Trump believes or why tens of millions of voters agree with him.
They sent her to produce a clip of Trump being told he has "no evidence."
Trump saw it coming, named it out loud, and walked out the door.
That's not a meltdown – that's a man who refuses to sit still and be processed by people who decided the verdict before the camera rolled.
