Donald Trump was riding high after his landslide election win.
Then disaster struck.
And Donald Trump reacted to this major defeat in one shocking way that no one saw coming.
The Swamp defeats Matt Gaetz’s nomination
Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz withdrew his nomination as Attorney General after just eight days.
The conservative firebrand realized that Swamp-aligned RINOs were never going to support his nomination out of spite over Gaetz’s leadership role in the rebellion that booted former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy.
After meeting with Senators, Gaetz came to understand that RINOs Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Markwayne Mulling weren’t going to vote for him under any circumstances.
Gaetz announced on social media that he was pulling his name from consideration to run the Justice Department.
The media hailed the move as a defeat for Trump and praised the Republican run Senate for “standing up” to Donald Trump.
RINOs hoped that Trump would pick an establishment-friendly figure who wouldn’t shake things up at the corrupt and weaponized Justice Department.
But Trump had another trick up his sleeve and named former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as his new selection to run the Justice Department.
Bondi defended Trump as part of his legal team in the Ukraine impeachment hoax.
And her two successful statewide elections as Attorney General meant she’d been vetted and easily confirmable.
President-elect Trump explains why he picked Pam Bondi to serve as Attorney General
Trump announced his pick on Truth Social just hours after Gaetz withdrew his nomination, saying Bondi was a tough-on-crime prosecutor who would crack down on the flow of fentanyl into America.
“I am proud to announce former Attorney General of the Great State of Florida, Pam Bondi, as our next Attorney General of the United States. Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on Violent Criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida Families. Then, as Florida’s first female Attorney General, she worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl,” Trump began.
“Overdose Deaths, which have destroyed many families across our Country. She did such an incredible job, that I asked her to serve on our Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission during my first Term — We saved many lives!” Trump continued.
Trump added that Bondi was a proven conservative he knew he could trust to carry out his agenda of firing Deep State bureaucrats who weaponized the Justice Department against Trump and his supporters.
“For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans – Not anymore. Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again. I have known Pam for many years — She is smart and tough, and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter, who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!” Trump concluded.
