Tim Walz let fraudsters steal $250 million meant to feed children.
Nobody in his government noticed for two years.
But JD Vance just got handed the keys to a new federal task force – and five Democrat-run states are already in his crosshairs.
The Feeding Our Future Fraud That Tim Walz Ignored
Minnesota didn't fall into this mess overnight.
The Feeding Our Future nonprofit was founded in 2016 and spent years submitting claims for meals that were never served.
At its peak, the organization listed 299 fake meal sites and claimed to have served 90 million meals in under two years – more than 120,000 meals per day.
One site the FBI surveilled, supposedly serving 6,000 meals daily, averaged around 40 actual visitors.
Only 3 percent of the money granted to Feeding Our Future sites was spent on food.
The rest went to luxury cars, resort property in Kenya, a honeymoon in the Maldives, real estate in Turkey, and – according to federal investigators – potentially to al-Shabaab, the al-Qaeda affiliate operating out of Somalia.
Tim Walz's administration didn't stop any of it.
State agencies were warned repeatedly.
A government investigator later confirmed that Walz officials were afraid to act because they didn't want to be called racist.
The fraud didn't just survive – it metastasized.
Investigators now believe that across 14 Medicaid programs, fraudsters may have stolen as much as $9 billion from taxpayers since 2018.
How the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud Will Work
Trump's executive order, signed Monday, March 16, creates the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud inside the Executive Office of the President.
Vance chairs it.
FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson serves as vice chair, and Stephen Miller is senior adviser.

Every major federal agency with a hand in benefits – Treasury, Justice, Agriculture, Labor, HHS, HUD, Education, Veterans Affairs, DHS, and the Small Business Administration – is now required to participate.
The 90-day clock is already running for each member agency to submit measurable anti-fraud plans.
Vance put it simply in the Oval Office on Monday: force the government to do two things – stop the fraud and make sure the benefits go to American citizens, not fraudsters.
Ferguson made the stakes personal: every dollar stolen is a dollar Americans paid in taxes to fund their own hospitals and childcare – redirected instead into businesses that never provided a single service.
The task force's stated targets aren't subtle.
White House fact sheets name California, Illinois, New York, Maine, and Colorado as states with "insufficient safeguards and weak oversight" that create conditions for large-scale fraud.
That's every major Democrat-run state in the country.
Medicaid Fraud in Blue States Could Hit 100 Billion Dollars
Minnesota's fraud didn't require some sophisticated criminal genius.
It required a government that had decided, for political reasons, to look the other way.
It required a Democrat-built system that rewired federal healthcare dollars into welfare slush funds – and Biden made it worse in 2023 by officially encouraging states to use Medicaid money for housing, food, and home remodeling, with no strings and no accountability.

The money flowed through government shutdowns because Medicaid is an entitlement – it doesn't need annual approval from Congress.
California, New York, Illinois, Maine, and Colorado ran the same play.
Dr. Mehmet Oz, who runs the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, told reporters he believes the nationwide total could reach $100 billion.
He pointed specifically to Los Angeles hospice fraud as an example – noting that one-third of all hospices in America are now located in a single California city, a statistical impossibility that only makes sense as a billing fraud operation.
Congress is already moving.
The House Committee on Energy and Commerce has sent fraud investigation letters to ten states, including California, New York, Maine, Colorado, Massachusetts, Vermont, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Nebraska.
It was a Democrat playbook, tested in Minneapolis, proven to work, and quietly exported everywhere else.
Trump and Vance just decided to follow the money.
