Lee Greenwood recorded "God Bless the USA" in 1984 and Ronald Reagan used it at that year's Republican National Convention.
On Thursday, he sang it on the National Mall while stealth bombers flew overhead and the man who made it America's anthem kicked off 250 years of the greatest nation ever to exist.
That's not a concert – that's something no one in this country has seen before.
What Trump Built When the Entertainers Ran
Martina McBride pulled out. Bret Michaels pulled out.
The Commodores, Morris Day and The Time, Young MC – one by one they bailed, claiming the event was "too political" to celebrate America's birthday.

Trump didn't blink.
He went on Truth Social and said what everyone was thinking – that nobody wanted to hear overpriced singers who do nothing but complain anyway.
Then he replaced them with the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own," the Armed Forces Choir, the United States Marine Band, the Joint Armed Forces Chorus, and Lee Greenwood.
The entertainers who quit handed Trump the greatest gift they could have given him: a rally.
Not a concert where the crowd politely claps between pop songs they've never heard.
A Rally to America – with the man himself at the center of it, the National Mall packed with Americans who actually love their country, and stealth bombers overhead.
Sixteen Days That No Other Generation Has Had
The Great American State Fair runs June 25 through July 10 – 16 days spanning from the Capitol to the Washington Monument, with exhibits from all 56 states and territories, a 110-foot Ferris wheel, daily cultural programming, military flyovers, and every corner of America on the National Mall at once.

Freedom 250 CEO Keith Kranch told Fox News the celebration is about what makes America exceptional – its freedom, its faith, its optimism, and its people.
America has thrown itself milestone parties before.
The 1876 Centennial drew more than eight million people to Philadelphia over four months and unveiled Alexander Graham Bell's telephone and Thomas Edison's telegraph to the world.
The 1976 Bicentennial stretched across the entire country for a full year.
What neither of those had was a president who stepped into the center of the celebration and declared himself "the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World."
He's not wrong.
Why This Moment Matters More Than the Critics Will Admit
The story isn't that pop stars refused to show up for America's birthday.

The story is that the men and women of the United States Armed Forces showed up – in full – to perform alongside Lee Greenwood while the most America First president in a generation reminded this country of everything it has built and everything it can still become.
Critics will say Trump made it about himself.
They said the same thing when he came down that escalator in 2015.
They said the same thing on inauguration night in 2017 when Greenwood sang the same song he'll sing tonight.
The voters who will pack the Mall and the millions who will watch from home already know the answer: there is no more powerful symbol of American exceptionalism right now than a president willing to stand in the center of his own country's birthday and say it was worth celebrating.
