Harry Reid blew up the Senate filibuster the second he had the votes.
Democrats came within two votes of doing it again in 2021 – and the two people who stopped them are both gone now.
Trump just looked at that math and told you exactly where it ends.
What Trump Said Out Loud
Standing in front of reporters Thursday, Trump answered a Breitbart News question about what Democrats would do if they retook Congress.
He didn't hedge. He didn't do the political calculation.
"If Democrats took control of the Congress, I think that – and let's say, took control of the country – I think that this country's finished," Trump said.
Then he explained exactly why.
The filibuster dies on day one.
Washington, D.C. gets statehood. Puerto Rico gets statehood.

That's four new Democrat senators and a wall of Electoral College votes that makes winning the White House mathematically impossible for Republicans.
Then the Supreme Court.
"They want to go to 21 Supreme Court judges," Trump said. "That's their perfect number. They talk about 13, but they want to go to 21 Supreme Court judges."
Nine justices – many of them confirmed by Republican presidents – get buried under twelve new Biden-Obama-style liberals.
Every constitutional protection that survived the last four years gets relitigated.
Every Trump executive order. Every immigration win. Every border policy.
Gone.
Democrats Put 60 Co-Sponsors on a Court-Packing Bill
Democrats have been saying this out loud for years.
The court-packing push started the day Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed in October 2020.
AOC, Ilhan Omar, and the entire Squad demanded Biden pack the court the day he took office. Biden created a commission to study it.
The commission spent months deliberating and produced exactly nothing – but the pressure from the left never stopped.
The Judiciary Act of 2021 proposed adding four seats immediately, bringing the court to thirteen. It had 60 co-sponsors in the House.
The filibuster?

Democrats tried to kill it to pass voting legislation in January 2022. Chuck Schumer forced a vote he knew he'd lose just to put senators on record.
Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema were the only things standing in his way.
Manchin retired. Sinema left the party.
The next time Democrats have 51 votes in the Senate, there is no Manchin.
There is no Sinema. There is no brake.
What "Finished" Actually Means
Trump also said something people skipped past.
"We were a dead country two years ago," he said. "If I didn't win this election, I don't even know that we would have been a country any longer."
That sounds like hyperbole until you run the numbers.
During the Biden years, an estimated 25 million people crossed the southern border illegally.
Trump said they came from jails, mental institutions, and drug operations – countries "sending everybody that they didn't want."
Fentanyl was killing 100,000 Americans a year.
Crime in every major Democrat-run city was exploding.
Biden's approval was in the low 30s – and Democrats were still running the country.
Now flip that forward.
A Democrat majority kills the filibuster in week one.

They pass amnesty for every illegal immigrant who crossed under Biden. They add D.C. and Puerto Rico as states and lock in a permanent Senate majority.
They pack the Supreme Court with 12 new justices and overturn every conservative ruling of the last decade.
Then they reinstate every Biden border policy.
And there is no electoral math that fixes it.
That's what "finished" means. Not dramatic. Not metaphorical. Structural.
The Part Nobody Is Asking
Here's what nobody in Washington will say directly.
Senate Republicans still have the majority. They still have the votes to prevent D.C. statehood through budget reconciliation.
They could use the nuclear option on the filibuster themselves – right now, this session – to pass legislation that makes statehood impossible before Democrats ever get the chance.
They won't.
The same Senate Republicans who lectured Trump about "norms" and "institutions" during his first term are sitting on their hands while Democrats sharpen the knives they'll use to gut those same institutions the moment they're back in power.
Trump isn't being alarmist.
He's being the only person in the room doing the math.
