Joe Biden spent four years telling you the asylum system was working.
Now Rubio is about to cancel 200,000 visas of people who used it to lie their way in.
And what Marco Rubio and Donald Trump just did to close it will keep Democrats up at night.
The Scheme Biden Ran for Four Years
The trick was simple.
Buy a tourist visa.
Fly to the United States legally.
File for asylum before the visa expires.
Collect a federal work permit while the case drags through a backlog that takes years to clear.
That's it.
That's the whole fraud.
One Colombian national named Humberto Coral pulled it off in 2015 – came in on a tourist visa, filed for asylum just before it expired, and collected work permits renewed under Obama, then Biden, for more than a decade.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau put it plainly on X: "People in the US and all over the world are fed up with bogus asylum claims."
He's right.
Asylum law was written as a narrow shelter for people fleeing persecution based on race, religion, nationality, or political opinion.
It was not written for economic migrants who wanted a faster path than a work visa and found one.
Homeland Security recorded 41,030 asylum applications from Indian nationals in fiscal year 2023 – up from 4,330 just two years earlier.
That's an 847 percent spike in two years.
India's own Ministry of External Affairs told Parliament that asylum seekers were denigrating their country and its society to obtain personal gain.
Their own government said the quiet part out loud.
How the Work Permit Became the Gateway
Here's the part the media won't explain.
Filing for asylum unlocks a federal work permit.
That work permit – the Employment Authorization Document – qualified holders for non-domiciled commercial driver's licenses in dozens of states.
So the pathway ran from tourist visa to asylum filing to federal work permit to a commercial trucking license picked up at a state DMV – all of it legal at every step, all of it never intended to work this way.

The North American Punjabi Trucking Association estimates roughly one-fifth of the entire U.S. Sikh population now works in trucking.
Rubio moved on this last year – pausing worker visas for commercial truck drivers after an illegal immigrant from India allegedly struck and killed three people in a Florida crash.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration followed in February with a rule cutting non-domiciled CDL eligibility for asylum permit holders entirely.
Trump didn't stumble onto this loophole.
He's been systematically closing every door.
The Largest Visa Purge in American History
The State Department has already revoked more than 175,000 visas since Trump took office – most tied to criminal arrests.
This is different.
Every B1 and B2 applicant signs a declaration affirming they will not seek asylum and intend to return home.
They signed it.
Then they filed anyway.
The State Department's Tommy Pigott confirmed the rollout is ongoing and coordinated with DHS.
That means this number isn't a ceiling.
It's a floor.
Revoking the tourist visa doesn't end the asylum case – those still go through immigration court – but the legal cushion that let 200,000 people work, drive, and stay without scrutiny disappears.
And every single one of them is now on DHS's radar.

Democrats built this system deliberately – and now they own every signed declaration sitting in Rubio's files.
Every one of these 200,000 people signed a sworn statement promising they would not seek asylum.
That's not a policy dispute.
That's evidence.
And when the lawsuits come – because they're coming – Rubio walks into court holding the paperwork they signed themselves.
Democrats spent four years calling this system humanitarian.
They're about to spend the next four explaining why 200,000 people they let in lied on federal forms to stay.
