Donald Trump is facing unrelenting lawfare.
Trump’s political opponents think their best chance to win involves the courts and partisan prosecutors meddling in the election.
And now Donald Trump just got hit with new criminal charges in this 2024 case.
Pro-Haitian advocacy group files civilian criminal charges against Trump
The Haitian Bridge Alliance filed an affidavit invoking its right to press civilian criminal charges against Donald Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance for repeating allegations made by Springfield, Ohio, residents that Haitian migrants ate people’s dogs and cats.
“Their persistence and relentlessness, even in the face of the Governor and the Mayor saying this is false, that shows intent,” Subodh Chandra of the Cleveland-based Chandra Law Firm stated.
“It’s knowing, willful flouting of criminal law,” Chandra added.
Chandra then repeated false claims that Trump and Vance inspired bomb threats with their claims of Haitian migrants stealing and eating pets.
“If it were anyone else other than Trump and Vance who had done what they’ve done — wreak havoc on Springfield, resulting in bomb threats, evacuated and closed government buildings and schools, threats to the Mayor and his family — they would have been arrested by now,” Chandra falsely claimed.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine previously revealed that all 33 bomb threats were hoaxes and came from overseas.
Despite no evidence to support his claims, Chandra argued Trump and Vance should face criminal charges.
“So, really, the only question is whether the court and then the prosecutors would treat Trump and Vance the way anyone else would be treated. They are not above the law,” Chandra added.
What the affidavit alleges
Chandra’s affidavit levels a series of criminal allegations that critics contend not even Jack Smith or Alvin Bragg would bring against Trump.
The charges include allegations that Trump and Vance:
— Made false alarms “by knowingly causing alarm in the Springfield community by continuing to repeat lies that state and local officials have said were false”;
— Committed telecommunications harassment “by spreading claims they know to be false during the presidential debate, campaign rallies, nationally televised interviews, and social media”;
— Committed aggravated menacing “by knowingly making intimidating statements with the intent to abuse, threaten, or harass the recipients, including Trump’s threat to deport immigrants who are here legally to Venezuela, a land they have never known”;
— Committed aggravated menacing “by knowingly causing others to falsely believe that members of Springfield’s Haitian community would cause serious physical harm to the person or property of others in Springfield”; and
— Violated the prohibition against complicity “by conspiring with one another and spreading vicious lies that caused innocent parties to be parties to their various crimes.”
These charges distract from the real story of Springfield, Ohio, which is what Trump and Vance intended to highlight in the first place with these claims.
Kamala Harris imported 20,000 illegal aliens into Springfield – a town with a population of 58,000 – and then granted them all amnesty through the Temporary Protected Services program.
The mass influx of these Haitian migrants led to an increase in crime and disease as well as draining the city’s financial coffers.
Democrats don’t want to talk about the obvious downsides of mass migration.
So they keep the focus on the sensational claims about migrants chowing down on people’s pets rather than discuss the other harsh realities.
