Democrats have spent eight years turning the word "ICE" into a slur.
Donald Trump just flipped it in four words.
And every reporter in America is going to have to live with what happens next.
The Idea That Broke the Left's Brain
It started with a post on X from a regular American.
She wrote that Trump should rename ICE to NICE – National Immigration and Customs Enforcement – so the media would have to say "NICE agents" every single time they covered a deportation.
Trump saw it.
His response on Truth Social was immediate: "GREAT IDEA!!! DO IT. President DJT."
The White House rapid response account shared it within hours.
Now think about what the media has been doing since 2018.
Every deportation story, every enforcement sweep, every arrest carried the same framing: "ICE agents terrorizing communities." "ICE rounding up families." "ICE creating fear."
The word "ICE" became a political weapon – shorthand for everything the left wanted their base to fear and hate about immigration enforcement.
Representative Pramila Jayapal posted just this month that "ICE is not keeping us safe" and called for abolishing the agency entirely.
She is going to have a very hard time delivering that message when every broadcast forces her to say "NICE is terrorizing our communities."
Eight Years of "Abolish ICE" Just Became a Punchline
The Abolish ICE movement was not a fringe position.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ran on it in 2018 and won.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand told CNN that Congress should "get rid of" ICE.
Kamala Harris said Democrats should think about "starting from scratch" with immigration enforcement.
Mayor Bill de Blasio demanded the agency be eliminated.
The position spread so fast that House Democrats introduced actual legislation to abolish the agency – then voted against their own bill when Republicans threatened to schedule an immediate floor vote and make every Democrat go on record.
They were so proud of the position they refused to vote on it.
Now those same politicians are going to be asked, on camera, whether they want to abolish NICE.
DHS ended 2025 by arresting a Guatemalan man convicted of raping a child under 12 years old in Kentucky.
A Pakistani man convicted of drug manufacturing in Texas.
A Guatemalan man convicted of aggravated assault in Georgia.
A Mexican man convicted of domestic violence assault in Nevada.

Those are NICE agents at work.
Say it out loud and see how the argument sounds.
Trump Just Ran Their Own Play Back at Them
Democrats have been making deliberate word choices on immigration for years.
They do not say "illegal immigration" – they say "migration."
They do not say "illegal alien" – they say "undocumented immigrant."
They do not say "ICE agents" – they say "secret police" and "kidnappers."
Under Biden, ICE arrests averaged roughly 300 per day.
During Trump's second term, that number climbed past 500 a day – and the agency arrested 66,463 illegal immigrants in just the first 100 days, removing 65,682.
That is not "terrorizing communities."
That is the largest deportation operation in modern American history, removing people convicted of violent crimes from your neighborhoods, your children's schools, your streets.
And now every reporter covering it has to say the agents doing that work are NICE.
Trump's Truth Social post is the same move run in reverse – force every anchor, every Democratic congressman to say "NICE agents" every time they try to attack the people doing that work, and you change the emotional weight of the argument before it even starts.
Jayapal can call the agency a threat.
She just has to call it a NICE one.
