Now, U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) is the most endangered Senate Democrat running for re-election this fall.
The Senate race in Montana could decide which party is in the majority next year.
Trump traveled to Bozeman, Montana, to hold a rally for Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy.
One of the reasons that Tester has been able to survive in a red state is that he talks like a moderate at home but votes like a leftist in Washington, D.C.
The former President told the crowd that Tester is a “radical Left lunatic.”
Trump noted that Tester “never voted” for his agenda during his term in the White House.
“Tester, everyone thinks he’s like my best friend,” Trump said. “He’s never for me once, and yet his commercials are ‘I like Donald Trump very much.'”
The Montana Senator is running commercials with Trump’s border wall in the background while talking about his commitment to border security.
“He said, ‘I love his pride, I love his border stance.’ He votes against the border,” Trump stated. “He voted against funding of the border. He said ‘I love his stance on energy,’ he voted against our energy programs.”
Jon Tester has a Trump problem
Trump pointed out that despite Tester’s rhetoric, he’s been a rubber stamp for the Democrat agenda in the Senate.
“He votes against us 100% of the time, he’s voted in favor of Joe Biden 100% of the time,” Trump explained. “He did it last time with the election, we had the same problem. You remember he comes out everyone saying he really likes your policy a lot. He does it like he’s a radical Left lunatic, just like [Vice President] Kamala [Harris].”
Trump is expected to easily carry Montana again this election after he won the state by 20 points in the 2016 Election and 16 in 2020.
The only chance that Tester has of winning this fall is if tens of thousands of Trump supporters split their tickets to vote for him.
But that becomes harder to do when the former President is attacking him and openly campaigning for his Republican challenger.
Tester has three Senate races by narrow margins in election years that were good for Democrats – 2006, 2012, and 2018.
His act of pretending to be a moderate is wearing thin with voters.
Sharing a ballot with Donald Trump this year is going to be the end of Jon Tester’s political career in deep red Montana.
