Don Lemon offers a surprising take on conservative media
Former CNN host Don Lemon is one of a growing list of journalists who’ve established a career in alternative media.
He’s had a grudge against former Fox News host Megyn Kelly since he was fired from CNN.
Lemon appeared on The Dean Obeidallah Show, where he offered his thoughts on the state of the corporate media.
The former CNN host called Fox News host Sean Hannity a “star” in conservative media.
“I don’t agree with anything, just about anything Sean Hannity says or has ever said, but he has something to say and a lot of people listen to him,” Lemon explained. “Obviously, he can move the right and I just want to tune in to say, okay, let’s see. Sean’s a star. There’s no denying that.”
Lemon praised MSNBC host Rachel Maddow as another media “star” before he claimed that Kelly had fallen from stardom after leaving cable news.
“Even with Megyn Kelly, who I don’t agree with anything and who has become a troll and has proven that when she said she wasn’t racist, proving — she doubles down every single day on that,” Lemon whined.
He claimed that leaving Fox News hurt Kelly.
“But people listen to her for some reason and Megyn was a star,” Lemon stated. “I believe that she was a star. I don’t believe she’s a star now. I don’t mean that to denigrate her, but she was a star when she was on Fox and that was where she was supposed to be.”
Lemon’s assessment of Kelly’s career doesn’t hold water.
Her podcast is one of the 10 most popular podcasts in the country and is broadcast on SiriusXM.
Kelly’s YouTube channel has more than 2.3 million subscribers and gets more views on the platform than CBS News, NBC News, and CNBC.
She’s as big a star as she’s ever been after striking out on her after she was fired from NBC.
Meanwhile, Lemon’s podcast is lagging far behind hers in popularity.

Lemon was fired from CNN and initially signed a deal with Tesla founder Elon Musk’s X to host his new podcast on the social media platform.
He interviewed Musk as the first guest on his X Podcast earlier this year and attacked him for an alleged rise of hate speech on the social media platform.
That resulted in Lemon losing his deal with X, which Kelly blasted him for being a jerk.
“Don Lemon got fired again already,” Kelly said in March. “He’s fired before he really got hired. It’s very hard for Don Lemon to keep a job.”
“Don Lemon behaved like an a**hole who was not grateful to Elon Musk for resurrecting his career,” Kelly added.
Megyn Kelly is thriving after launching an independent media career, while Don Lemon is green with jealousy that she’s more relevant than him.
