Democrats spent months demanding Marco Rubio kill the Patriot Passport before it spread.
Now the State Department just announced 250,000 more – and it's going national.
Find out what happened when the American people answered the Democrats' formal Senate inquiry with a waitlist.
Democrats Threw a Fit. Americans Responded With a Waitlist.
When the State Department unveiled the limited-edition passport in April, Senate Democrats launched a formal inquiry into Secretary of State Marco Rubio, demanding he halt the program.
Senator Chris Van Hollen – best known for flying to El Salvador to have margaritas with a deported illegal immigrant – called it "a scary day in America."
California Rep. Mike Levin posted that Trump's gold signature "superimposed over the Declaration of Independence" was the kind of behavior the Founders sought to escape.
The State Department ignored them.
“The Department of State created a special U.S. passport ("Patriot Passport") to commemorate the historic occasion of America’s 250th anniversary,” the State Department wrote in a release. “This special passport has custom artwork and enhanced images on the front, back, and inside covers,” it continued. “It has all the same advanced security features that make the U.S. passport the most secure travel and identity document in the world.”
“The Department is now offering Americans across the country the opportunity to apply for one of these 250,000 special and historic passports,” the release added.
Americans formed a waitlist so fast that the administration printed 250,000 more passports and expanded access to offices in Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Minneapolis, New Orleans, and Stamford – with other offices following in the weeks after August 8.
State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott told The Daily Wire: "Americans have shown tremendous enthusiasm for the America 250 commemorative passport, and we're proud to expand access nationwide as our country prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence."
What Democrats Called Dangerous, Americans Called a Keepsake
The Patriot Passport features Trump's inaugural portrait on one interior page and a painting of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration on another.
Trump is the first sitting president ever featured on an American passport.
Democrats called it authoritarian.
Americans called their local passport office.
The passport is one piece of a broader semiquincentennial campaign that includes a $1 gold commemorative coin bearing Trump's likeness from the U.S. Mint this fall and Trump's signature appearing on newly printed U.S. currency – both firsts for a sitting president.

Van Hollen's Senate colleagues co-signed a letter warning Rubio that proceeding would "risk politicizing a document that is central to our national identity."
Senators Jeff Merkley, Jacky Rosen, Tim Kaine, and independent Angus King – all caucusing with the party that just lost the White House, the Senate, and the House – signed it.
Rubio did not halt the program.
He printed more.
The Part Democrats Don't Want You to Notice
Democrats did not launch a formal Senate inquiry when Barack Obama put his portrait in the White House or when Joe Biden renamed policies after himself.
They did not write letters demanding restraint when Democratic administrations branded entire federal agencies with their preferred identity politics language.
They only discovered that presidential imagery on government documents was dangerous when it was Trump's image.
The Patriot Passport does not replace the standard passport.

Americans who do not want Trump's portrait in their travel document can request the regular version.
The commemorative edition is optional, limited, and tied to a genuine national milestone.
Democrats demanded Rubio stop it.
A quarter million Americans proved them wrong before the program even went national.
The only thing standing between them and one was the Democrat Party.
