Democrats label Trump’s Venezuela operation an ‘impeachable offense’

Jan 7, 2026

Donald Trump just pulled off one of the most daring military operations in modern American history.

He removed a narco-terrorist dictator who's been poisoning American communities with drugs for decades.

But Democrats label Trump's Venezuela operation an 'impeachable offense.'

Squad members lead charge against successful Maduro capture

President Trump launched a precision military strike Saturday that captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife in the dead of night.

U.S. forces hit military targets in Caracas, extracted Maduro from his presidential palace, and flew him to New York to face narco-terrorism charges.

The operation was flawless — minimal U.S. casualties, mission accomplished, dangerous enemy neutralized.

Democrats immediately lost their minds.

U.S. Representative Delia Ramirez (D-IL), a member of the radical "Squad," didn't waste time calling for Trump's head.

"Many Americans woke up to a sick sense of déjà vu. Under the guise of liberty, an administration of warmongers has lied to justify an invasion and is dragging us into an illegal, endless war so they can extract resources and expand their wealth," Ramirez posted on X.¹

She demanded Congress pass fellow Squad member Ilhan Omar's War Powers Resolution and impeach Trump immediately.

That's right — the same Democrats who cheered endless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan under Bush and Obama suddenly discovered constitutional scruples when Trump takes out a drug-running dictator.

U.S. Representative Dan Goldman (D-NY), who faces a primary challenge from his left, jumped on the impeachment bandwagon.

Goldman criticized Trump for bypassing Congress to launch what he called a "war" with Venezuela.

"This violation of the United States Constitution is an impeachable offense," Goldman said in a statement. "I urge my Republican colleagues in the House of Representatives to finally join Democrats in reasserting congressional authority by holding this president accountable for this gross violation of the Constitution."²

Goldman's sudden concern about constitutional authority is rich considering Democrats spent four years covering for Biden's border crisis and unconstitutional COVID mandates.

U.S. Representative April McClain Delaney (D-MD) chimed in on X, saying "invading and running another country without a congressional declaration of war is an impeachable offense."³

Even California gubernatorial hopeful U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) — yes, the guy who allegedly had a relationship with a Chinese spy — refused to rule out impeachment.

Swalwell told reporters "all options are on the table" and warned Trump's actions would "put us in a fascist cul-de-sac."⁴

Swalwell calling anyone a fascist after his relationship with Chinese intelligence is pure comedy.

Democrats reveal their real priorities

Here's what Democrats are actually mad about.

Trump succeeded where they failed for decades.

Maduro has been flooding American communities with cocaine, fentanyl, and gang members for years.

The Obama administration did nothing except lift sanctions and cut deals.

The Biden administration watched Maduro rig elections, brutalize his people, and export chaos to America's southern border without consequence.

Trump took decisive action, and Democrats can't stand it.

U.S. Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) told Axios she's "reconsidering" her views on impeachment after initially thinking it wasn't possible.⁵

U.S. Representative Jared Huffman (D-CA) took it further, telling Axios "We are in 25th Amendment territory now," suggesting Trump should be declared mentally unfit.⁶

These are the same Democrats who insisted Biden was sharp as a tack even as he shuffled around confused at international summits.

The hypocrisy is breathtaking but not surprising.

Progressive House candidates also piled on, including Kat Abughazaleh, running for an open Illinois seat.

"I demand that Congress exercise its power, halt this conflict, and impeach this war criminal president," Abughazaleh posted on the Bluesky app.⁷

Democrats spent Trump's entire first term trying to impeach him over a phone call.

They impeached him twice and failed both times.

Now they're already plotting impeachment number three before he's even 100 days into his second term.

Republicans defend successful operation against narco-terrorist

The contrast with Republicans couldn't be starker.

GOP leaders praised Trump for having the courage to do what needed doing.

Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune said they're working with the administration to schedule briefings for members.⁸

Top Republicans argued this was a law enforcement action against an indicted criminal, not a declaration of war requiring congressional approval.

Maduro and his wife face federal charges including narco-terrorism, cocaine importation conspiracy, and weapons possession.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the couple would "face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts."⁹

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that bullets were "flying all over the place" during the extraction but praised the "bravery" and "tremendous patriotism" of U.S. forces.¹⁰

"It was a very dangerous operation. It was amazing that we had a few injured, but all are in good shape right now," Trump said. "Amazing talent and tremendous patriotism, bravery — The bravery was incredible."¹¹

Democrats attacking this successful operation proves they care more about attacking Trump than protecting American lives from drug cartels.

Maduro and his wife are sitting in a Brooklyn jail awaiting federal court arraignment Monday on narco-terrorism charges.

Democrats are sitting in Washington plotting their next impeachment attempt.

American voters will remember which side stood with law enforcement against narco-terrorists and which side defended the criminals.
