Costco Just Dropped One Summer Treat That Has Customers Racing Back to the Store

Aug 18, 2025

Americans are tired of getting ripped off at every turn.

From gas prices to groceries, everything costs more than it should these days.

But Costco just dropped one summer treat that has customers racing back to the store.

Costco’s bakery delivers another home run with strawberry rhubarb pastries

While other retailers keep jacking up prices and shrinking portions, Costco continues to deliver real value to hardworking families.

The retail giant has introduced new strawberry rhubarb pastries in their bakery department, creating quite a buzz among shoppers.

These pastries stand apart from typical convenience store options.

Costco created them with premium all-butter pastry dough and a crystal sugar finish for added texture.

The box of nine pastries costs just under $12 according to the report, which works out to about $1.30 each.

Compare that to the $4 or $5 you’d pay at some fancy coffee shop for something half as good.

Laura from Costco Hot Finds on Instagram summed it up perfectly when she said, "The Costco bakery just dropped Strawberry Rhubarb Pastries, and the only mistake I made was not buying ice cream to go with it."¹

She heated hers in the air fryer and described the results: "I heated mine in the air fryer, and the dough was warm, soft, and buttery. These are perfect."¹

Customers are already planning return trips

The response from shoppers has been exactly what you’d expect when a company actually delivers value instead of empty promises.

"Strawberry rhubarb is my favorite thing on the planet!" one customer commented, adding "I am not religious, but I’m praying right now that these are gonna be here in Portland, Oregon somewhere."¹

Another shopper wrote, "I love anything and everything strawberry, so I need these!"¹

But here’s the part that really shows how good these pastries are – people are already planning return trips to Costco just to get more.

"I totally didn’t see these when I went today! Guess I’ll have to make another trip tomorrow!" one customer admitted.¹

That’s the kind of customer loyalty you earn by actually giving people what they want at a fair price.

The pastries work well for morning meals, afternoon treats, or evening desserts.

Customers who have tried them recommend heating and pairing with vanilla ice cream.

The warm pastry with cold ice cream creates the perfect summer dessert experience.

This is how American businesses should operate

What Costco is doing with these pastries represents everything that’s right about American business.

They’re using premium ingredients – real butter, fresh strawberry rhubarb filling, and crystal sugar that enhances texture.

The pricing won’t send families into sticker shock like most places these days.

Costco isn’t shrinking the pastries or swapping in cheap ingredients to pad their margins either.

There’s something refreshingly old-school about this approach. Give people what they want at a price that doesn’t require a second mortgage.

Most big retailers have forgotten this basic formula, but Costco keeps delivering on it year after year.

Target’s busy pushing rainbow merchandise and Walmart’s worried about their carbon footprint. Meanwhile, Costco’s over here figuring out how to make better pastries.

They understand what their customers actually want – quality food that doesn’t cost a fortune.

You’d think something this simple wouldn’t need explaining, but apparently it does.

The pastries are selling like crazy because Costco remembered the most important rule in retail. Take care of your customers, and everything else takes care of itself.

More companies should try it sometime.
