Another celebrity who spent years performing progressive politics just got caught writing Trump checks.
Now she's on Instagram begging for grace.
Federal donation records tell a different story than her apology tour.
What the FEC Records Show About Rozonda Thomas
Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas – better known as the TLC singer who made a career out of empowerment anthems – made 17 separate contributions in 2024 totaling nearly $900 to Republican causes.
She donated $210 to WinRed – the Republican Party's official fundraising platform.
She donated $486 to Never Surrender Inc. – a Trump-branded super PAC.
She donated $340 to the Trump National Committee JFC.
She donated $63 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
She donated $7 to Ted Cruz.
One of those donations landed on October 16, 2024 – three weeks before Election Day.
Seventeen contributions across eight months to five Republican-aligned entities is not a clerical error.
The Michelle Obama Instagram Post She Says Was an Accident
Before the donation records surfaced, Chilli got caught sharing something else.
On March 12, her Instagram account reshared a post claiming that Michelle Obama had registered to vote as a man in 1994 – a claim that has circulated in conservative online spaces for years.
The post stayed up on her account for roughly 24 hours.
When her phone lit up with calls and texts, Chilli said she had no idea it was there – her thumb hit the repost button by accident while she was scrolling.
She also follows Donald Trump Jr., Tomi Lahren, Newsmax, Byron Donalds, and Dean Cain on social media.
Her feed is what it is.
Chilli Said All Lives Matter in 2017 and T-Boz Has Not Forgotten
The donations weren't the beginning of this story.
In 2017, Chilli told UK's Channel 4 News "all lives matter" when asked about Black Lives Matter – a comment her own bandmate T-Boz publicly distanced herself from.
"Some of my friends voted for him – I can't understand it," T-Boz told Vice that same year, adding that Chilli's comment had gotten T-Boz unfairly blamed alongside her.
This week, T-Boz posted a photo on social media of just herself and the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.

Chilli wasn't in the frame.
Sources close to TLC's fanbase told AllHipHop the support for Trump dates back to his 2016 campaign and "was not a big secret."
Now there are 17 FEC-documented donations with Chilli's name and Stone Mountain, Georgia address attached to them.
She Said She Thought WinRed Was a Veterans Charity
This is the part that matters.
Chilli told fans she thought her donations were going to veterans and anti-human trafficking organizations – two causes she says she cares about deeply.
"I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print," she wrote on Instagram Saturday.
But there was no fine print obscuring what these groups were.
WinRed runs the Republican Party's online fundraising operation – it processes donations for GOP candidates and committees and makes no secret of it.
Never Surrender Inc. took its name directly from Trump's response to his federal indictments.
The Trump National Committee has the president's name in the title.
When you confirm 17 separate donations across eight months, someone is reviewing a confirmation screen 17 times.

This is how Hollywood has always operated for conservatives – perform the right politics publicly, vote and donate privately.
A secretive group called "Friends of Abe" held quiet gatherings for conservative entertainers for years because they understood that going public meant professional consequences.
The math hasn't changed.
What changed is the FEC made the records public.
The Tour, the Musical, and the Timing
TLC announced a co-headlining summer tour with Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue on March 23.
Ticket sales went live March 26.

The donation story broke March 28.
A TLC musical is set to open in Washington, D.C. in June.
Refund requests are already circulating online.
This is what happens when you spend years performing one set of politics and quietly living another.
The FEC doesn't do apology tours.
