Bruce Springsteen Told Trump And ICE To Get Out Of Minneapolis At Concert

Jan 21, 2026

Hollywood celebrities love to lecture working Americans about politics.

They think their fame gives them special wisdom.

And Bruce Springsteen went on stage and said three words that have Trump supporters seeing red.

Springsteen Slams ICE "Gestapo Tactics" At Minneapolis Benefit Concert

Bruce Springsteen hijacked a Parkinson's disease benefit concert Saturday night to attack President Trump and federal immigration enforcement.

The 76-year-old rock star told a sold-out crowd at New Jersey's Count Basie Center for the Arts that "ICE should get the f— out of Minneapolis."

Springsteen dedicated his song "The Promised Land" to Renee Good, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on January 7 after she drove her vehicle toward federal officers during a confrontation.

Trump and Vice President JD Vance have maintained the ICE agent acted in self-defense when Good accelerated her SUV toward him during the incident.

But Springsteen told the audience of 1,500 people that Good was "murdered for exercising your American right to protest."

He went even further by comparing ICE agents to Nazi Germany's secret police.

"If you stand against heavily armed masked federal troops invading American cities and using Gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens, if you believe you don't deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest, then send a message to this president," Springsteen declared.

The rock legend was quoting Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who previously told ICE to "get the f— out" of his city after Good's death.

Hollywood Celebrities Join Coordinated Protests Against Trump ICE Operations

Springsteen isn't the only wealthy celebrity attacking Trump's immigration enforcement.

At the Golden Globes on January 12, Mark Ruffalo, Ariana Grande, Jean Smart, and Wanda Sykes all wore "ICE OUT" and "BE GOOD" pins on the red carpet.

The coordinated protest was organized by Latino advocacy group Maremoto and the ACLU as a direct attack on Trump's border security policies.

Ruffalo called Trump "the worst human being" and a "convicted rapist" during red carpet interviews.

"We're in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded," Ruffalo claimed, completely ignoring that Trump's operation rescued American hostages and captured one of the world's most brutal dictators.

Other musicians joined the pile-on too.

Tyler the Creator posted "F— ICE" on Instagram, while country singer Zach Bryan released lyrics referencing "ICE is gonna come bust down your door."

This represents Hollywood's third coordinated attack on Trump immigration policies at major awards shows since 2023.

The same activist who organized the Golden Globes protest previously rallied celebrities against Trump's family separation policies.

Trump Already Put Springsteen in His Place

This isn't Springsteen's first rodeo attacking Trump from the stage.

During concerts in Manchester, England last May, Springsteen called Trump's administration "corrupt, incompetent and treasonous."

Trump fired back on Truth Social, calling Springsteen "highly overrated" and "not a talented guy."

"Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics," Trump wrote.

Trump went even further, calling the aging rocker a "dried out prune" and telling him to "keep his mouth shut until he gets back into the Country."

Trump even posted a doctored video showing himself hitting Springsteen with a golf ball, causing the singer to fall on stage.

The Trump administration's response was equally blunt: "The 77 million Americans that elected President Trump disagree with elitist and out-of-touch celebrities like Bruce Springsteen."

Springsteen has campaigned for every Democrat presidential candidate since Barack Obama in 2008, including Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024.

In a September 2025 interview, even Springsteen admitted Democrats have lost touch with everyday Americans.

"We're desperately in need of an effective alternative party or for the Democratic Party to find someone who can speak to the majority of the nation," Springsteen told Time magazine.

He acknowledged "there is a problem with the language that they're using and the way they're trying to reach people."

That didn't stop him from supporting Harris anyway.

What Really Happened Behind The Renee Good Minneapolis Shooting

What Springsteen won't tell his fans is that Trump deployed the National Guard to Memphis in September following the Charlie Kirk assassination, not Minneapolis.

The Memphis deployment was part of Trump's broader crackdown on violent crime in Democrat-run cities.

Trump designated MS-13, Tren de Aragua, and multiple drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, giving ICE enhanced powers to arrest and deport gang members.

In Minneapolis, ICE operations have focused on arresting child sex offenders, gang members, and violent criminals that local Democrat officials refused to detain.

Mayor Frey's call for ICE to leave came after his own soft-on-crime policies created the lawless environment that necessitated federal intervention.

Minneapolis saw protests escalate after the Good shooting, with approximately 1,500 troops put on standby if violence continued.

But here's what really happened: Good confronted federal agents during an ICE operation and accelerated her vehicle toward officers.

The Trump administration maintains the shooting was justified self-defense.

Springsteen calling it "murder" ignores the facts of what actually occurred during that confrontation.

He's siding with activists who obstruct federal law enforcement over the safety of ICE agents doing their jobs.

The wealthy rock star with private security telling working-class Americans that removing criminal illegal aliens is "Gestapo tactics" is peak Hollywood hypocrisy.

Trump won 77 million votes on a mandate to secure the border and enforce immigration law.

Springsteen's audience of 1,500 wealthy New Jersey liberals doesn't speak for the majority of Americans who elected Trump to do exactly what he's doing.
