On February 14, a podcaster asked Barack Obama if aliens are real and Obama said "they're real."
Trump heard it, called it a classified leak, and ordered the Pentagon to release everything.
Now Obama is back on Colbert – three months later – trying to convince you there's nothing to find.
The Man Who Started It All Is Now Telling You to Forget It
Obama's two-word answer set off a chain reaction he clearly didn't expect.
Trump went on Air Force One and told reporters Obama had just disclosed classified information – calling it "a big mistake."
Then Trump signed a directive ordering federal agencies to open their records on extraterrestrial life and unidentified aerial phenomena to the public.

The Pentagon started digging.
This week – today, in fact – the Pentagon began publishing those files, saying the American people can judge the evidence for themselves.
And where was Obama on Tuesday night?
Sitting across from Stephen Colbert, telling America there's nothing there.
"The government is terrible at keeping secrets," Obama said, explaining why no alien evidence could possibly exist.
He then volunteered himself as humanity's ideal first-contact diplomat, citing his experience in "statecraft and diplomacy."
The same man who quietly said "they're real" in February – triggering a full government declassification effort – is now your source for why declassification is pointless.
Trump Accused Obama of Leaking It – Then Opened the Vault
Here's the part the mainstream media buried.

Trump didn't just disagree with Obama in February.
He accused him of leaking classified information.
"He took it out of classified information," Trump told reporters. "He's not supposed to be doing that."
Then – in the same news cycle – Trump ordered the whole thing declassified.
Think about what that sequence means.
If Obama's "they're real" comment was truly nothing – just a throwaway line about the statistical probability of life in the universe – Trump had no reason to call it a classified leak.
You don't accuse someone of leaking secrets that don't exist.
Trump's own accusation cut directly against Obama's explanation.
And now, three months after Obama said "they're real" and three months after Trump said Obama shouldn't have said it, the Pentagon is releasing the files Obama spent eight years never touching.
The Colbert Appearance Is the Tell
Obama had every resource a person could want to know the truth.
Eight years of full presidential security clearance.
The entire intelligence community at his disposal.

He could have ordered this declassification himself – any morning, any year, between 2009 and 2017.
He didn't.
Now Trump is doing it, the files are coming out, and Obama shows up on a CBS late-night show to explain why the whole thing is pointless.
Your 70-year-old uncle would ask one question: why did the guy with the highest clearance in the country spend eight years doing nothing – then materialize on television the moment the files started coming out to tell you there's nothing in them?
That's not confidence.
That's panic with a laugh track.
