Barack Obama spent eight years telling you he was the president of all Americans.
Then he compared the sitting Vice President of the United States to a Nazi.
Obama just called that speech a "blood and soil" vision borrowed from Hitler's Germany.
What Vance Actually Said
Vance delivered his July 4th remarks in New York Harbor during the Sail250 International Naval Review, surrounded by more than 30 tall ships from allied nations.
His message was about unity – specifically, that Americans have accomplished everything "not as citizens divided against each other, but as a common people working toward a common future."
"Reject that America is a place for zero-sum thinking, because it's not," Vance said. "Reject the view of your nation that sees only its sins, but not its grace and its greatness."
Now a former president is calling that Nazi rhetoric.
Obama Drops the Nazi Card
Obama appeared on a YouTube interview with author Malcolm Gladwell on Thursday, ostensibly to discuss Reconstruction-era history.

He used the platform to accuse Vance of making a speech that was "basically a blood and soil version of 'We the People'" – invoking language directly associated with Adolf Hitler's racial ideology.
"Blood and soil" – or Blut und Boden in German – was the Nazi slogan fusing racial identity to the land. Obama knew exactly what he was saying when he used it.
Gladwell piled on, calling Vance a hypocrite for holding "nativist" views while being married to Usha Vance, the daughter of Indian immigrants. Obama agreed – but what he said next was even more revealing.
"That is progress," Obama said of the "hypocrisy." "Listen, hypocrisy is progress. It is, because it means that you feel guilty enough to either lie to yourself or others."
Read that again.
Obama is openly accusing JD Vance of lying to himself or others about his own wife – because Obama believes Vance secretly holds views that contradict loving her.
The Pattern Nobody in the Media Will Name
Obama is not the first socialist Democrat to pull this particular grenade.

Al Sharpton used "blood and soil" language to describe Trump's July 4th speech at the National Mall. Beto O'Rourke compared Republicans to 1933 Germany.
A Democrat adviser on MSNBC called the Republican Party "a domestic terrorist cell" mirroring "Nazi Germany and the Bolsheviks."
This is not a series of individual rhetorical excesses.
It is a coordinated political strategy.
What This Is Really About
Obama is not reacting to anything Vance actually said.
He is running an operation.
Vance is the most likely Republican nominee in 2028.
Democrats know it.
Obama calling him a Nazi in July 2026 is not an accident of passion – it is the opening move of a two-year campaign to define Vance before he defines himself.
The Left spent eight years calling Trump Hitler.
It didn't work.

Now they're going to try it on a kid from Middletown, Ohio who grew up poor, joined the Marines, and married an immigrant's daughter – and they think nobody will notice the absurdity of the charge.
Your 70-year-old neighbor who remembers what it felt like to watch Americans walk on the moon, who watched Reagan beat the Soviet Union, who still believes this is the greatest country on earth – that person just watched a former president compare the sitting Vice President to Adolf Hitler for giving a speech about American unity aboard a Navy warship.
They noticed.
