Barack Obama and Jimmy Kimmel Just Teamed Up on HBO and What They Said About Trump Is Something Else

Jul 10, 2026

Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel for defending a man who murdered Charlie Kirk.

Now he's starring in Barack Obama's HBO show mocking the president of the United States.

And what his character said about Trump – on Barack Obama's dime – is something ABC would never let him say on his own show.

The Former President Who Can't Let Go

Barack Obama is an executive producer of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America – a new HBO series timed deliberately to America's 250th birthday.

While the rest of the country was celebrating, Obama was funding a comedy series designed to mock the man Americans elected twice.

Kimmel appeared in a July 3rd episode alongside Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David.

The scene featured David's character – dressed in colonial attire – demanding to know what happens if "some a—— in office, some narcissistic p—- doesn't follow the Constitution."

That's Barack Obama's idea of patriotic entertainment on Independence Day weekend.

Rob Reiner played George Washington in his final on-screen appearance before his death late last year.

Reiner's Washington lectured the crowd about peaceful transfers of power – a thinly veiled attack on Trump that every Democrat has been recycling for five years.

Then Kimmel appeared in the crowd and delivered his lines about a president who supposedly attacks the free press and "challenges anyone who dare make fun of him, as if he were a big baby."

Obama greenlit every word of it.

The Man Disney Wouldn't Fire

Here's what you need to know about Jimmy Kimmel.

Disney suspended him in September 2025 after he used the assassination of Charlie Kirk to attack Trump and the MAGA movement on live television.

Kirk was murdered on September 10th, 2025.

Kimmel went on air days later and accused conservatives of trying to "characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them."

Disney pulled the show.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr called the comments "truly sick."

Kimmel came back a week later, cried on television, and said it wasn't his intention.

Trump had been demanding ABC fire Kimmel for months before that – calling him "seriously unfunny" and presiding over "one of the Lowest Rated shows on Television."

Disney kept him anyway.

Earlier this year, Kimmel joked that Melania Trump had the glow of an "expectant widow" – days before an armed assailant stormed a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

He insisted it was a joke about Trump's age, not an assassination reference.

Nobody bought it.

Now Kimmel has signed a contract extension through 2027 and is starring in the former president's HBO propaganda project.

What This Is Really About

Barack Obama hasn't held office since January 2017.

He produced a television series – on a major cable network, timed to the nation's birthday – specifically to mock the sitting president of the United States without saying his name.

That's not comedy.

That's a political operation with a laugh track.

The left spent years warning Americans about "threats to democracy" and "attacks on norms."

Obama is the guy who weaponized the FBI against a political opponent.

He surveilled journalists who covered his administration.

He oversaw the Russia collusion apparatus that spent four years trying to destroy Trump's first term.

Now he's producing comedy sketches about peaceful transfers of power.

The pattern here is impossible to miss: every time Trump wins, Hollywood builds a new machine to tear him down.

Late night television didn't work.

The View didn't work.

Saturday Night Live didn't work.

So Obama himself got into the content business – and recruited a man Disney suspended for defending Charlie Kirk's killer to help him do it.

That's where his priorities are nine years out of office.
