Jorge Rivas owns a Mexican restaurant in Catalina, Arizona, and he's been offering free meals to law enforcement for five years.
That used to be normal in America.
Now the left wants to destroy him for it – and the campaign of harassment he's facing tells you everything about how far we've fallen.
The ICE Support Sign That Started A War
Walk into Sammy's Mexican Grill and you'll see a simple message by the door.
"Welcome to Sammy's, where law enforcement always eats free."
That sign's been hanging there since around 2020, long before ICE operations became daily news.
Rivas, who came here legally from El Salvador, put it up because he believes cops deserve support – especially when they're putting their lives on the line protecting people they don't even know.
This week a Spanish-language outlet called Pulso featured the restaurant in a video, highlighting Rivas's support for ICE agents specifically.
"Everyone who works for ICE, all federal agents can come to Sammy's Mexican Grill," Rivas said in the interview.
"Here, they will be treated with respect and as they deserve."
The moment that video went viral, the attacks started immediately.
Threatening Calls, Fake Reviews, Coordinated Destruction
San Diego Red reports the restaurant is now drowning in threatening phone calls, hateful social media messages, and organized boycott campaigns.
These aren't just angry Yelp reviews.
We're talking about coordinated harassment designed to bankrupt a family business because the owner believes federal agents enforcing the law shouldn't be treated like criminals.
And it's not the first time.
Back in 2016, someone photographed Betty Rivas – Jorge's wife – standing behind Trump at a Phoenix rally.
They circled her face, posted it to Facebook with the restaurant's name, and unleashed the mob.
Yelp had to scrub fake reviews claiming the place was filthy and pest-infested.
Google mysteriously listed the business as "temporarily closed" even though it was open – and when Jorge tried to get it fixed, Google wouldn't respond.
"They are doing everything to shut us down," Rivas said back then.
"Saying you are a racist, you are a pig, you are going to burn, you are an idiot."
The same playbook, just amplified now that ICE has become the left's designated villain.
When Free Meals For Police Were American As Apple Pie
Here's what the mob doesn't want you to remember.
Offering free or discounted meals to police and firefighters used to be standard practice at restaurants across America.
McDonald's served 10 million free meals to first responders – worth over $50 million – and nobody called for boycotts.
Shoney's gives law enforcement free breakfast, lunch, or dinner on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day every year.
Dozens of chains from Chick-fil-A to Hooters to Golden Corral offer police discounts as a simple thank-you for the job they do.
The practice goes back generations – cops could grab a free cup of coffee or a meal on the house as a show of respect and gratitude.
Some departments eventually discouraged it over concerns about favoritism, but the gesture itself was never controversial.
It was just Americans supporting the people who show up when you dial 911.
Jorge Rivas is doing exactly what restaurants did for decades – and he's getting death threats for it.
The ICE Boycott Double Standard They Don't Want You To See
The timing here matters.
ICE just reported an over 1,300% increase in assaults on agents, a 3,200% increase in vehicle attacks, and an 8,000% increase in death threats.
Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed in Minneapolis in January after allegedly trying to ram an ICE agent with her vehicle.
Alex Pretti was killed by Border Patrol on January 24th.
Protests against federal agents have been escalating for weeks, with left-wing activists treating ICE like an occupying army instead of officers enforcing laws Congress passed.
Meanwhile, restaurants in Minneapolis are giving away free food to people hiding from ICE – literally helping them evade federal law enforcement.
Modern Times café stopped charging for meals "until ICE leaves the city," with the owner saying he wants to support people "afraid to leave their homes for fear of being stopped by federal agents."
Seattle restaurants are raising funds for Minneapolis businesses affected by ICE operations, framing enforcement actions like they're natural disasters instead of legal proceedings.
Let's be crystal clear about what's happening here.
When restaurants offer free food to help illegal immigrants hide from ICE, the media celebrates it as compassion.
When a restaurant offers free food to the agents risking their lives to enforce immigration law, the left tries to burn the place down.
That's not about principles – it's about which side you're on.
They Can't Make Him Back Down
Jorge Rivas ran for Congress in Arizona's 7th District last year as a Republican.
He didn't win, but he's not abandoning his principles.
"We must give them our support," Rivas told Fox News Digital about ICE agents being attacked.
He said it's "not correct" if they don't get the respect they deserve.
This is a legal immigrant who came here the right way, built a successful business over 20 years, and believes in the rule of law.
The left's response? Threaten to destroy everything he's built.
Trump tweeted support in 2020, saying he'd try to stop by next time he was in Phoenix.
Conservatives rallied both times the mob came after them.
But here's the reality Jorge and Betty Rivas are living with right now.
They can't just run a restaurant anymore.
Every time they express support for law enforcement or Trump or border security, they have to brace for another wave of harassment, fake reviews, threatening phone calls, and boycott campaigns designed to make them choose between their principles and their livelihood.
That five-year-old sign welcoming law enforcement used to represent basic American values.
Now it makes you a target.
