AOC Said Three Words About the Military and Lee Zeldin Ended Her

Jul 26, 2026

The Washington Post spent years telling you misinformation was the greatest threat to democracy.

Now a sitting congresswoman just told millions of Americans the US military was merging with the IDF – and it was a lie.

AOC posted on social media that the National Defense Authorization Act would "merge parts of our military with the Israel Defense Forces" – and Lee Zeldin picked up the flamethrower.

Zeldin Didn't Mince Words

EPA Administrator Zeldin – a former Army intelligence officer – called the claim "FALSE" and went further.

He told AOC she should try "merging the part of your brain responsible for reading bill text with the part of your brain responsible for critical thinking."

Rep. Mike Lawler of New York was equally direct.

"Good grief, you are either obtuse or intentionally lying," Lawler wrote on X.

Then he added five words she didn't want to read: "stop stoking Jew hatred."

What the Bill Actually Does

Section 219 of the FY2027 NDAA creates the United States–Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative.

It directs the Pentagon to speed up joint research on missile defense, counter-drone systems, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

No American troops fall under Israeli command.

No joint operational units are created.

No military sovereignty changes hands.

This is the same kind of cooperative defense framework the United States maintains with the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, and dozens of other allies.

The bill passed the House 219-206 with Section 219 fully intact.

A Pattern That Never Changes

This isn't the first time AOC has weaponized distortions about Israel to fire up the anti-Semitic left.

In February 2026, she flew to Munich – the city where Hitler staged his Beer Hall Putsch – and accused the Jewish state of committing genocide in Gaza.

She has called accusations of anti-Semitism a tool "wielded against people of color" – a line that landed with survivors of the Holocaust like a gut punch.

International affairs expert Tom Gross said her Munich remarks should disqualify her from any future national office.

She doesn't misread bills by accident.

She misreads them on purpose – because "the U.S. is merging its military with Israel" activates her base in a way that "the Pentagon is expanding a joint R&D program" never could.

The Squad's Oldest Playbook

The Squad has run this play before.

Find a provision. Twist the language. Call it an "existential threat to democracy."

Watch the fundraising emails write themselves.

The difference this time is that Zeldin – a Jewish-American Army veteran who spent eight years in Congress reading defense bills – was right there to call it what it was.

Lawler framed the rest of it exactly right.

When you tell your followers the U.S. is surrendering military sovereignty to the Jewish state, you are not criticizing policy.

You are feeding something uglier.

And AOC has been feeding it for years – Munich, the genocide charge, and now this.

The question isn't whether she knows what she's doing.

The question is whether anyone in her party is finally going to say so.
