An Armed Idaho Man Said Something to the Gunman That Democrats Never Want You to Hear

Aug 5, 2026

The Left spent last week demanding gun control.

Jordan Salinas spent the last four years preparing for Saturday.

One of those approaches just saved two dozen lives – and it wasn't theirs.

The Man Who Ran Toward the Gunfire

Salinas, 35, works in healthcare and lives in Kimberly, Idaho, where he also serves as the round-the-clock caregiver for his brother, who uses a wheelchair.

He was pulling into the Twin Falls In-N-Out drive-thru with his girlfriend – stopping for lunch before an afternoon of horseback riding – when he saw customers sprinting from the building.

He assumed it was a kitchen fire.

Then he heard the shots.

He didn't deliberate.

He drew his suppressed FN Five-seveN pistol from its shoulder holster and moved toward the threat.

He wasn't panicking.

He was executing.

Observe. Orient. Decide. Act. – the four-step military framework he'd rehearsed in the Idaho desert weekend after weekend.

Gunman Chad Williams, 24, had emerged from the drive-thru carrying an AR-style rifle and was already killing people.

Three would die that day.

Seven more were wounded.

His girlfriend was in the line of fire.

Salinas found Williams and opened up.

"He did not like it when bullets started firing both ways."

An off-duty Idaho State Police trooper who happened to be at the restaurant joined Salinas, and together they drove Williams away from the building – pulling his attention off the customers and employees still scrambling to escape.

Williams later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound near the parking lot.

Twin Falls County Sheriff Jack Johnson left no doubt about what those two men accomplished: "They diverted the shooter and without a doubt saved many lives."

Why He Was Ready When Everyone Else Was Running

Here's what the media won't explain about Jordan Salinas: he didn't just happen to have a gun.

He built himself into someone capable of using it – and he did it for the most Idaho reason you've ever heard.

After the 2021 Boise Towne Square Mall shooting – where two people were killed and four wounded – Salinas looked at his wheelchair-bound brother and thought something most people refuse to face.

Gunmen go after soft targets.

A man in a wheelchair, with one caregiver beside him, is about as soft as it gets.

He couldn't change that.

But he could change himself.

He started training every weekend.

Desert ranges outside of Eden, Idaho.

Same drills, same framework, over and over.

He'd never once pointed his gun at an animal.

He trained anyway.

Two years ago, he posted a note to himself that now reads like prophecy: "Train like your life depends on it because God forbid, one day it might."

Saturday, it did.

The Crime Prevention Research Center documented that armed citizens stopped 157 active shooter incidents between 2014 and 2022 – more than ten times what the FBI officially acknowledged.

The FBI reported 14.

The media buried every one of those stories.

What Chuck Schumer and the Gun Control Crowd Just Lost

Before Saturday's bodies were cold, Democrats were demanding "common sense gun reform."

That is the only thing they know how to do.

Chuck Schumer and his colleagues have spent thirty years trying to make Jordan Salinas impossible.

No concealed carry. Permit requirements. Waiting periods. Make it complicated, make it expensive, make it discouraging enough that working men like Salinas give up and go home unarmed.

Idaho went the opposite direction.

Permitless concealed carry for anyone 18 and older.

No waiting periods. No government permission slip required to defend your own life.

The Republican legislature has consistently expanded gun rights rather than gutting them.

That is why Salinas had a gun Saturday – and why three people died instead of thirty.

The Crime Prevention Research Center's data shows 97.8% of mass public shootings since 1950 happened in gun-free zones – places where people like Salinas are legally barred from carrying the tools that stop monsters like Chad Williams.

Every Democrat demanding gun control this week is demanding more of those zones.

Salinas posted a Facebook message afterward asking everyone to keep the focus on the victims and their families.

He kept himself out of it.

"There's a task that needs to be done, and we're the ones who need to do it,” he said.

Idaho raised that man.

Idaho's gun laws made him possible.

And Chuck Schumer spent thirty years trying to make men like him illegal.
