The days of overt resistance to Trump are over as Democrats realized the American people won’t tolerate a defeated political minority blowing up the country in a color revolution.
Instead, the Left is plotting a subtler form of resistance this time around.
And while Donald Trump is public enemy number one, Elon Musk is number two on the Left’s hit list.
After the 2016 election, leftists pressured their allies in Big Tech to censor Donald Trump and his allies, believing the free flow of information on social media allowed Trump to beat Hillary Clinton.
Social media censorship – specifically Twitter and Facebook suppressing the New York Post’s Hunter Biden story – put Joe Biden in the White House.
Elon Musk buying Twitter and eliminating the censorship protocols was a turning point in the 2024 election.
Democrats know they can’t censor the Internet so long as Musk owns X.
That’s why Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson is leading a group targeting so-called “disinformation” – news sources that Democrats don’t like – for destruction with a multi-million dollar campaign.
“The group, called the Two Plus Two Coalition, plans to ‘target the hidden sources of disinformation and expose them for what they are,’ according to a donor prospectus being circulated this past week. The group asked donors for a minimum investment of $1 million, and was aiming for an annual budget of $10 million to $15 million,” The New York Times reports.
Wilson allegedly plans to target Musk and his family with a “military-grade” intelligence operation to dig up embarrassing dirt on Musk.
“The group’s senior adviser, Rick Wilson, a former Republican operative who was a co-founder of the Lincoln Project, said in an interview on Thursday that his organization would operate as an opposition research firm but with a military-grade intelligence-gathering operation that went far beyond the document vetting typical of a political campaign,” The Times also reported.
Wilson’s goal is either to destroy X by forcing advertisers to flee the platform or get Musk to cry uncle and either sell X to a group that will reimpose censorship or reimpose the censorship regime himself.
“A lot of people in the Center and on the Left have for a long time sort of bemoaned Fox, but they haven’t done anything about it,” Wilson told The Times.
The truth is, Wilson is a Never-Trump grifter who hopes this new effort will continue to allow him to live a lavish lifestyle without ever actually working a day in his life.
