AOC called her own defund-the-police years "crazy" – and laughed while she said it.
Now she is leading the 2028 Democrat presidential field and pretending the last six years never happened.
And what AOC’s staff told reporters about her views on defunding the police tells you everything you need to know.
She Said Defunding Police Meant Defunding Police – Now She Wants You to Forget That
Her own congressional website once declared "Defunding police means defunding police."
She called for abolishing ICE, abolishing the Department of Homeland Security, and decriminalizing every border crossing.
She said in 2019 that marginalized communities "have no choice but to riot."
She said in 2021, at a live event, that she wanted to "abolish our carceral system that's designed to trap Black and brown men."

That was not fringe Twitter posting – that was her platform, her identity, the thing that made her famous.
Now, with 2028 looming, she told ABC News that the "Woke 1 was crazy," laughed about it, and moved on.
When reporters asked her office directly whether she has dropped defunding the police or decriminalizing the border, they refused to answer.
The positions are not gone – they are just inconvenient right now.
This Is Exactly What Obama Did – and It Worked
Buck Sexton named it on the Hang Out With Sean Hannity podcast, and he is right.
Barack Obama was rated the most liberal senator in the entire United States Senate in 2007 by the National Journal – more liberal than Bernie Sanders, more liberal than Hillary Clinton.
He then ran a campaign built on "hope and change" that sounded moderate enough to win Iowa, win the nomination, and win the presidency twice.
The extreme record did not go away – it was buried under good speechwriting and a media that looked the other way.
AOC is running that same play right now.
She leads the 2028 Democrat field in New Hampshire with 22 percent, ahead of Pete Buttigieg and far ahead of Gavin Newsom.
Polymarket and Kalshi both have her as the frontrunner for the Democrat nomination.

Nate Silver – the left's own polling guru – picked her first on his 2028 list.
The machine is already behind her.
The Video Is Timestamped and It Will Not Help Her
Obama's extreme votes were buried in congressional records.
AOC's positions are on YouTube, with dates, in her own voice, in front of cheering crowds.
"Defunding police means defunding police" is not a nuanced Senate vote – it is a direct statement she made publicly because she believed it, or because she knew it would make her famous, and both possibilities are equally disqualifying.
John Kerry tried the same pivot in 2004 on the Iraq War – voted for it, then spent two years explaining why he was actually against it.
America did not buy it.
Bush won reelection.
The difference is that Kerry was hedging on a vote cast in a building most Americans never visit.
AOC was on camera, at rallies, to adoring crowds, calling for the abolition of the same law enforcement agencies that protect your neighborhood.
Joe Rogan – not a conservative, not a Republican – called her out this week and asked her to explain the reversal.
She has not answered him directly.
What This Means for Every Conservative Watching
The Democratic Socialists of America already called her too moderate and rejected her as a 2028 candidate.
Let that land for a second.
The DSA – the organization she helped build into a national political force – thinks she has moved too far to the center.
They are not wrong about what she used to believe.
They are wrong to think she has actually changed.
What is actually happening is that AOC is following the Obama roadmap precisely: keep the radical base energized, sand down the sharpest edges just enough for general election consumption, and count on a media that will not replay the old tape.
Conservative voters need to understand what they are watching right now – not a politician who evolved, but a politician who is auditioning.
The positions will come back the moment she no longer needs to hide them.
Every conservative in America needs to know this name, know this playbook, and be ready – because the Democrats found their 2028 candidate, and she has been practicing this speech for years.
