A civil war is underway in the Democrat Party over Joe Biden’s political future.
Now one of the most influential members of the party is making her voice heard.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez broke her silence about Joe Biden with this shocking message.
A growing number of Democrats are demanding that Joe Biden drop out of the race
President Joe Biden is trying to fight off a revolt in the Democrat Party after his malfunction during the CNN Presidential debate.
An increasing number of elected Democrats have asked him to end his re-election campaign.
The post-debate polling is rolling in and some members of the party are starting to panic that Biden could drag them down too.
The President has faced criticism from the far-left base of the Democrat Party for not calling a permanent ceasefire in Israel’s war against Hamas.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her “Squad” were prime candidates to call on Biden to quit the race.
They had been critical of Biden for not delivering on some of his far-left policies.
But she surprised everyone by throwing her support behind the President’s campaign.
“I have spoken to the President over the weekend. I have spoken with him extensively,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters. “He made clear then — and he has made clear since — that he is in this race.”
“The matter is closed,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “He had reiterated that this morning. He has reiterated that to the public. Joe Biden is our nominee. He is not leaving this race. He is in this race, and I support him.”
She used the opportunity to encourage Biden to adopt more of her socialist agenda on the campaign trail.
“If we can expand on health care, if we can make sure that people’s rents and mortgages are affordable, if we can actually provide and chart out a future that is more leaning into the needs of working people, then I think we can chart a path to win,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
Biden dismissed calls from Democrats to drop out of the race.
Now he has one of the most influential voices in the party’s far-left wing sticking up for him.
Bernie Sanders and “Squad” members come out for Biden
Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN), another member of the “Squad,” said she was sticking with Biden.
“Outside of a few outliers, I think everybody’s supporting the President,” Omar said.
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) voiced his support for Biden staying in the Presidential race.
“Biden and Democrats can win this election if they address the needs of the working class,” Sanders said in a statement. “The American people want change. It will either be the change of Trump’s reactionary and xenophobic policies or change that benefits working families.”
Sanders, like Ocasio-Cortez, encouraged Biden to pursue socialist policies like taxing the rich, expanding Medicare, and hiking the minimum wage.
Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders, and the “Squad” don’t have to worry about Biden dragging them down in the general election because they’re in safe Democrat districts.
They’re hoping they can nudge him to the Left if they stand with him.
And their support cements Joe Biden as the candidate of the Democrat Party’s socialist wing.
