Adam Schiff just made one complaint about Trump’s DOJ that instantly backfired on him

Adam Schiff has spent years weaponizing government investigations against his political enemies.

Now the California Senator is crying foul when the tables have turned.

And Adam Schiff just made one complaint about Trump’s DOJ that instantly backfired on him.

Schiff claims mortgage investigations are DOJ’s "new weapon"

California Democrat Senator Adam Schiff appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press this past Sunday with a message that would make even his most ardent supporters cringe.

The man who spent years leading the Russia hoax against Donald Trump now claims he’s the victim of political persecution.

"Mortgage is their new weapon to go after their critics," Schiff told host Kristen Welker. "They will manufacture anything to go after their critics."¹

Schiff was responding to questions about ongoing investigations into his own potential mortgage fraud, as well as the recent FBI raid on former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s home and office.

The Trump administration has accused Schiff of claiming his primary residence was in Maryland to secure cheaper mortgage rates while actually living in California as a Congressman from that state.

Government mortgage company Fannie Mae has stated that Schiff "engaged in a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation on several loans."²

But instead of addressing the specifics of these allegations, Schiff chose to attack the messenger.

"He’s essentially doing the president’s bidding against me, against Letitia James, against this person on the Federal Reserve," Schiff said, referring to the housing agency official investigating him.³

The Senator went even further, calling the Justice Department leadership "corrupt" and claiming they’re mounting an "intimidation campaign" against anyone who "stands up to the president."⁴

The king of weaponized investigations plays victim

Here’s where Schiff’s complaint gets really rich.

This is the same Adam Schiff who spent nearly four years as House Intelligence Committee Chairman pursuing every imaginable angle to destroy Donald Trump’s Presidency.

Schiff was the driving force behind the Russia collusion narrative that dominated headlines for years, only to ultimately find no evidence of coordination between Trump and Russia.

He was the architect of Trump’s first impeachment, based on a phone call with the Ukrainian president that Democrats claimed was inappropriate.

Schiff even claimed to have seen "more than circumstantial evidence" of Trump-Russia collusion – evidence that somehow never materialized despite multiple investigations.⁵

The guy who turned congressional investigations into performance art is now shocked – shocked! – that a Republican administration might actually investigate potential wrongdoing by Democrats.

"I think this is clearly retribution," Schiff declared on Meet the Press.⁶

You want to talk about retribution? Ask Trump about the years of investigations, impeachment proceedings, and media campaigns that Schiff orchestrated against him.

The mortgage fraud allegations aren’t going away

While Schiff dismissed the mortgage allegations as "patently false," the specifics paint a different picture.

President Trump posted on social media that Schiff "engaged in a sustained pattern of possible mortgage fraud" by claiming Maryland residency for loan purposes while serving as a California Congressman.⁷

Fannie Mae, the government-sponsored mortgage giant, has apparently found enough concerning evidence to launch their own investigation into Schiff’s loan applications.

That’s not exactly the action of an agency "manufacturing" evidence, as Schiff claims.

The investigation centers on whether Schiff misrepresented his primary residence to secure more favorable mortgage terms – a practice that would constitute fraud if proven true.

For someone claiming innocence, Schiff seemed awfully focused on attacking the investigators rather than providing a clear explanation of his mortgage applications.

"We have" cooperated with the investigation and "refuted their allegations," Schiff told Welker, but he provided no specifics about what that cooperation entailed.⁸

Karma has a funny way of working

The beautiful irony here is that Schiff spent years arguing that no one – especially not presidents – should be above the law.

He made that argument during both Trump impeachments, during the Russia investigation, and throughout his time as Intelligence Committee Chairman.

Now that same principle is being applied to him, and suddenly investigations are "corrupt" and represent "retribution."

This is the same playbook we’ve seen from Democrats for decades – weaponize government power when they control it, then cry persecution when Republicans do their jobs.

Schiff’s appearance on Meet the Press was supposed to generate sympathy for his plight and paint Trump as an authoritarian going after his critics.

Instead, it reminded everyone why this guy has become one of the most distrusted figures in American politics.

The American people haven’t forgotten Schiff’s years of bogus investigations and grandstanding.

They remember his claims about having evidence that never existed and his role in trying to overturn a Presidential election through impeachment.

Now he wants us to believe he’s the victim when the same investigative standards are applied to him.

Good luck with that, Congressman.
