Adam Schiff reveals he told Joe Biden he doesn’t want a pardon.
Critics contend Joe Biden is acting like the Democrat Party is a criminal enterprise with proposed pre-emptive blanket pardons for his allies that pushed the law to try and destroy Donald Trump.
One of the proposed pardon recipients is Senator Adam Schiff.
Schiff served on the January 6 Committee which pushed the discredited hoax that Donald Trump incited an insurrection on January 6.
The bombshell Justice Department Inspector General report showing the FBI deployed 26 spies on the ground on January 6 raised more questions about the committee deleting records and suppressing evidence.
This report hinted that the 26 undercover FBI operatives in the crowd were the floor, not the ceiling, of federal informants operating that day.
The report also didn’t address the allegation these secret informants incited or engaged in violence on January 6.
Donald Trump said the committee members belong in jail, although he did make clear he wouldn’t order his Attorney General or FBI Director to investigate Schiff, Liz Cheney, or the other committee members.
Adam Schiff addressed the matter of a pre-emptive pardon on ABC’s This Week with disgraced host George Stephanopoulos.
Stephanopoulos just forced ABC to pay Donald Trump $16 million – a $15 million donation to Trump’s Presidential library and $1 million payment to Trump’s attorneys for legal fees – in a defamation suit after Stephanopoulos falsely claimed Trump raped E. Jean Carroll.
“The president-elect has also talked about prosecuting members of the January 6th committee like you. I know you said you don’t want a preemptive pardon from President Biden. Is that because you think the Trump administration will not actually prosecute?” Stephanopoulos asked Schiff.
Schiff claimed he didn’t want a pardon and warned Biden that issuing pre-emptive pardons would set a terrible precedent that the President’s party could conduct itself as a criminal organization and get rewarded with immunity.
“I don’t know what the Trump administration will do, but it’s for a couple of reasons. First, those of us on the committee are very proud of the work we did. We were doing vital, quintessential oversight of a violent attack on the Capitol. So I think it’s unnecessary. But second, the precedent of giving blanket pardons, preemptive blanket pardons on the way out of an administration, I think is a precedent we don’t want to set,” Schiff stated.
Stephanopoulos actually made news with his next question.
“And you’ve communicated that to President Biden,” Stephanopoulos asked.
Schiff confirmed he made it clear to Biden he didn’t want a pardon.
“Communicated it both publicly and privately to the administration,” Schiff replied.
Schiff’s rejection of a pardon likely wasn’t grounded in any high minded set of ideals.
Rather, accepting a pardon – according to Biden’s own Justice Department – amounted to a confession of guilt for the crimes you were getting the pardon.
“[A] pardon at some unspecified date in the future . . . would not unring the bell of conviction,” federal prosecutors argued in a January 6 case. “In fact, quite the opposite. The defendant would first have to accept the pardon, which necessitates a confession of guilt.”
