Donald Trump has started to face resistance to his agenda from Senate RINOs.
They’re starting to learn there’s a price to be paid by selling out conservatives.
And a Senate RINO got tragic news about betraying Donald Trump that terrified Mitch McConnell.
Senate RINO flips on supporting Pete Hegseth after she feels the heat
The establishment Republicans in the U.S. Senate were emboldened after former Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) withdrew his nomination to President-elect Donald Trump’s Attorney General.
RINO U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) reportedly led the opposition against Gaetz behind the scenes that forced him out.
Successfully picking up a scalp led the Republican establishment to believe that they could pick off more of Trump’s nominees.
RINO U.S. Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) were working to kill the nomination of Trump’s Secretary of Defense, former Fox & Friends Weekend host Pete Hegseth.
Ernst was rumored to be angling for Defense Secretary if Hegseth dropped out.
She was noncommittal about supporting the former Fox News star.
Trump supporters dialed up the grassroots pressure on Ernst and threatened her with a potential Primary.
War Room podcast Steve Bannon told his audience that this was the time to draw a line in the sand.
“Fix bayonets — that’s what we’re doing here to make sure that we have the back of President Trump and his nominees,” Bannon said.
Iowa-based conservative talk radio show host Steve Deace floated himself as a potential Republican Primary challenger to Ernst when she’s up for re-election in the 2026 Midterm Elections.
“Defeating an incumbent US Senator takes high name ID, connections, and funding potential,” Deace wrote on X. “I’m one of the few people in Iowa with all three. Ernst began to sing a different tune about supporting Hegseth after she felt the heat for trying to oppose his nomination.”
Establishment Republicans panic over pushback and threats of Primaries
The establishment Republicans in the Senate were appalled that voters held Ernst accountable for her bad behavior.
U.S. Senator-elect John Curtis (R-UT) – who’s filling Mitt Romney’s Senate seat – whined at the No Labels’ “Power to the Middle” that Ernst was pressured by Trump supporters over supporting Hegseth.
“[I] talked to a sitting Senator today who has what feels like the entire world coming after her, because she may or may not support one of the Trump nominees,” Curtis said.
“She’s being plummeted with threats, with all sorts of things that don’t belong in political arena, and her staff is. And so you talk about pressure, right?” Curtis asked. “And speaking with her, she has to worry about things like, ‘Well, if I vote against this nominee, what happens to my state when I need something from this administration?’”
Curtis and Ernst want to be able to tell voters whatever they need to hear in their home states and vote like RINOs in Washington, D.C., without ever being held accountable.
RINO U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) slammed Trump supporters for attacking Ernst, “for not being good enough,” and falsely claimed she is “one of the more conservative, principled Republican leaders in the Senate right now.”
Murkowski was worried that Ernst could face a Republican Primary challenge in 2026.
The Senate RINOs are terrified of feeling the heat for trying to sink Trump’s cabinet nominees before they get a confirmation hearing.
