Former Kamala Harris’ official makes insane claim about Trump-Biden debate
The first Presidential debate on ABC between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will be one of the pivotal moments of the campaign.
A panel on CNN News Central was discussing the upcoming showdown when one of Kamala’s allies made a jaw-dropping claim about the June 27 CNN debate that ended the political career of President Joe Biden.
Kamala’s former communications director, Jamal Simmons, claimed that Trump lost his debate against Biden.
“Look, Trump right now is zero for one when it comes to debates, right? Like he may think that he won that debate, but it might be that he actually lost the war because of that debate,” Simmons said. “Because after that debate, Joe Biden left. And when Joe Biden left, he ended up with Kamala Harris, so he should be careful.”
CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings – a Republican strategist – couldn’t help but laugh and facepalm at Simmon’s ridiculous claim.
“Zero for one? Jamal, Jamal, my brother, and colleague … He literally ran a man who’d been in politics for 52 years out of his chosen profession over a debate,” Jennings replied. “I mean, look, I understand what you’re arguing, that you all traded in for a better candidate, but Trump won the debate. He is not zero for one. Are you saying he actually did so well that he did badly?”
Simmons tried to save face by claiming that Trump may have “tactically” won the debate, but now he had a much tougher opponent in Kamala.
Kamala’s team is nervous about the first debate
Kamala is running the most scripted Presidential campaign in history.
She’s rarely spoken in public without being parked in front of a teleprompter that’s feeding her the words to say.
Her propensity to commit embarrassing gaffes and give incoherent word salads has her handlers keeping out of unscripted situations.
She is going to be on her own without any crutches to hold her up during the Presidential debate.
Her allies are already trying to downplay expectations for the debate.
Simmons warned on CNN previously that Kamala hadn’t participated in a debate since 2020 against former Vice President Mike Pence.
“Remember this, Kamala Harris hasn’t been in a debate since she debated Mike Pence four years ago,” Simmons said. “Donald Trump has been in a couple of debates since then … She has not been in this debate format, so I think Democrats should give her a little bit of space to have maybe a slow start, give her a little bit of space to have some time to learn how to do the debate format again.”
He thought Kamala could hold her own but wouldn’t be able to deal any serious damage to Trump.
“She’s got a lot of bullets in her arsenal, but let’s not oversell what’s going to happen this debate. Donald Trump will not be a whimpering pile of tears when the debate’s over,” Simmons added.
