It’s rare that an actor comes out as a conservative.
The media will immediately swarm to try and destroy any prominent person who comes out in favor of Donald Trump.
And now a Hollywood star delivered this jaw-dropping response to Whoopi Goldberg.
Whoopi Goldberg falsely claims Hollywood is a conservative town
Actor Zachary Levi starred in the DC Comics Shazam film franchise as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe Thor films.
Levi outed himself as a conservative by joining Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at an event in Michigan to announce he was endorsing Donald Trump for President.
Whoopi Goldberg whined about Levi’s comments about risking his career by supporting Trump.
On The View, Goldberg falsely claimed that Levi didn’t take any risks because Hollywood is a conservative town.
Levi responded with a video posted to Instagram where he said Hollywood may have been more balanced back in the days of John Wayne or Bob Hope.
But Levi said these days Hollywood is a one party town where ideological conformity gets policed ruthlessly.
“To all of the folks at The View, I don’t think it’s accurate to say that somehow Hollywood is both a liberal and conservative town,” Levi stated.
The vast majority of conservatives in Hollywood risked severe repercussions if they came out as a conservative.
Levi explained that “you really have to be at a certain level of your career [now] to really get away with it.”
Goldberg named Dennis Quaid and Jon Voight as prominent Republicans to argue Hollywood had ideological diversity.
Levi shot back, pointing out that the fact Goldberg could name check them off the top of her head showed how rare prominent conservatives in Hollywood really were, saying out “of the thousands of actors in Hollywood that you could only name two actually speaks to that.”
Conservatives in Hollywood keep their politics secret
Levi added that contrary to Goldberg’s false claims, conservatives in Hollywood have told him that coming out as a Trump voter could mean the end of their career.
“There are plenty, and by the way, they’ve sent me lots of messages, plenty of people in my industry, in Hollywood, who are terrified to publicly say they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way,” Levi added.
“That’s why you don’t see them. That’s why they’re not very prevalent or prominent. They know there’s ramifications for this kind of shit,” Levi explained.
Levi told his fellow Hollywood conservatives that it was now or never and they needed to choose how they wanted to support Trump.
The Shazam actor explained that the movie business is still not back to pre-pandemic levels thanks to the lockdowns as well as the actor and writer strikes, which delayed years’ worth of projects.
“Our industry is gonna be f***** gonzo. It already is. The pandemic and strikes already have eroded it so much. My cry to all of you out there, you closeted conservatives and Trump voters, it’s now or never,” Levi pleaded.
Levi said it was up to them to decide how they wanted to support Trump, but Levi warned that the current entertainment industry was on its last legs, so they shouldn’t fear the potential professional backlash in a dying medium.
“Do whatever you feel like you need to do. If you need to come out publicly and say it, if you feel like you still can’t, then don’t. I would never pressure you to do that. But know that if what you’re afraid of is somehow the backlash of an industry that’s not going to exist very soon, then don’t let that hold you back,” Levi concluded.
