But Melania Trump just walked back into the Rose Garden and changed that with one announcement.
The First Lady Who Actually Showed Up
While Democrats spent years lecturing America about opportunity gaps and systemic inequality, Melania Trump was building something.
She launched Fostering the Future in 2021 – a Be Best initiative that secures college scholarships for young Americans aging out of the foster care system.
Thursday, she announced the program just got $2 million bigger.
"I heard you missed me. Here I am," she told the crowd.
They erupted.
Fox Corporation and IndyCar each cut a $1 million check on the spot – directed specifically to Indiana University and Purdue University to fund scholarships for foster youth.
That brings Fostering the Future's network to 26 colleges and universities nationwide.
The Problem Nobody Wanted to Solve
Think about what these kids are up against.
They grow up without parents. Without stability. Without anyone in their corner when the state stops paying attention.
Fewer than half of foster youth even finish high school.
Less than 5% ever earn a four-year college degree.
The Left has had decades to fix this.
They passed legislation.
They held hearings.
They gave speeches.
The graduation rate barely moved.
Melania Trump skipped the speeches and started cutting checks – to real universities, for real students, with real outcomes.
She announced Thursday that a Fostering the Future scholarship recipient became the program's first doctor this spring.

One kid who had nothing now has everything.
"He will change the lives of so many people," she said.
America's 250th Birthday Never Looked Like This
The announcement came with something the White House doesn't usually see – a race car.
IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon, Alexander Rossi, Scott McLaughlin and Graham Rahal stood in the Rose Garden as a red, white and blue IndyCar sat behind them – carrying "Be Best" and Fostering the Future branding.
The timing was deliberate.
IndyCar is about to run the first-ever race around the National Mall this weekend – the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. – a 1.7-mile street circuit threading past the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol at speeds topping 180 mph.
Every car on the grid will carry Fostering the Future decals.
That means when the winning driver crosses the finish line on Sunday – live on FOX – a foster care scholarship initiative will be on that car.
This is what it looks like when America puts its money where its mouth is.
"Education is the one asset that can never be taken away," Melania said. "It is the foundation upon which confidence is built, opportunities created and the future is invented."
What Democrats Never Built
An executive order.
A global coalition of 45 nations.
Savings accounts for foster youth.
Twenty-six universities.
And now $2 million more.
This is a track record Democrats can't touch – because they never tried to build one.
Melania Trump looked at a broken system and decided to fix it herself.
"The greatest investment America can make is not in technology, infrastructure or capital markets," she said. "It's our children."
That's not a talking point.
That's a race car in the Rose Garden and a kid who just became a doctor.
