The Take It Down Act is already sending predators to prison.
Now Melania Trump is trying to do it again – and she told Congress exactly when she wants it done.
She walked into a room full of Democrats who despise her husband and walked out with a unanimous House vote.
What Melania Said Behind Closed Doors
First Lady Melania Trump hosted a bipartisan roundtable on Capitol Hill in April with House Ways and Means Committee members – including Democrats who have spent years opposing everything Donald Trump has done.
She called foster care reform a "moral imperative."
Then the doors closed.
Behind closed doors, she told Chairman Jason Smith exactly what she expected: "I want this on Donald's desk by the August recess."
Smith had been worried going into the meeting.
He told Politico he was "fearful" because Democrats "really don't like her husband."
Melania went anyway.
The bill – the Fostering the Future Act – passed the House unanimously within weeks.
Every Democrat. Every Republican. Not one dissenting vote.
What the Bill Does for 16,000 Kids Nobody Else Is Fighting For
Every year, 16,000 young Americans age out of the foster care system with nothing.
No family. No housing. No support.
Melania said it plainly during her Ways and Means testimony: only 3 percent of foster care children ever earn a college degree.
The Fostering the Future Act is the first comprehensive update to the John H. Chafee Foster Care Program since 1999 – twenty-seven years without a single reform, under Republican and Democrat presidents alike.
The bill expands housing vouchers for youth leaving the system.

It increases workforce training funding and postsecondary education access.
It codifies Melania's November 2025 executive order into permanent law – so no future administration can erase it with the stroke of a pen.
More than 150 national organizations endorsed the package. More than 320 foster youth and caregivers personally advocated for it.
The Senate Has Had the Bill for Six Weeks and Has Not Moved It
Congress begins its August recess on August 10.
The Fostering the Future Act has not moved out of the Senate committee.
The night the House passed it unanimously, both Trump and Melania stood at the White House Congressional Picnic and publicly called on the Senate to act.
"Hopefully, it will quickly pass in the Senate," the president said. "I'm sure it will. It's a great thing."
That was six weeks ago.
Trump has not publicly pressed the Senate on this bill since that night.
Melania has.
The day after the House vote, she spoke at the Senate Spouses Luncheon and called passage a "moral obligation" – urging Senate spouses to push their husbands and wives to act.

At the Picnic that same evening, she told senators directly: "Now it's your turn to bring the Fostering the Future Act across the finish line."
The Senate has not responded.
She Has Already Proven This Works
Look at the track record.
The Take It Down Act – criminalizing AI-generated revenge porn and deepfake abuse – passed with near-unanimous votes in both chambers and was signed into law in May 2025.
By April 2026, the first conviction was in.
James Strahler of Columbus, Ohio pleaded guilty to using AI to generate sexually explicit images of at least six women – then threatened their mothers with the same treatment if they didn't comply.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called it "a huge achievement for the First Lady."
Melania also negotiated directly with Russian and Ukrainian officials on abducted children – personally writing to Vladimir Putin.
She called on Congress to let Epstein victims testify when the rest of the White House team was trying to move on.
This is a first lady who picks fights carefully and wins them.
Sixteen thousand kids age out of the system every year.
They have been waiting since 1999.
The Senate has 35 days.
