Joy Behar told millions of viewers that Donald Trump is planning to declare martial law and cancel the midterm elections.
Now one of the most prominent Democrats in Congress just said publicly that she doesn't believe it.
And she did it by accident.
What Crockett Actually Said
Rep. Jasmine Crockett – Texas Democrat, progressive firebrand, and one of the left's most vocal Trump critics – sat down for a YouTube livestream Tuesday when a viewer asked her the question the liberal media has been running on for months.
Will Trump cancel the midterms?
Crockett didn't say yes.
She didn't say she was terrified.
She said she doesn't think it's going to happen.
"I do not anticipate a 'canceling' of the midterms if we were to get to that point," Crockett said.

She also took a moment to acknowledge what everybody watching already knew – elections are controlled at the state and local level, which means a handful of governors Trump can't control would have to go along with it.
"I don't believe that he will be able to get enough governors to go along with him to stop the elections," she said.
That's not a ringing Democrat war cry.
That's a sitting congresswoman quietly walking back one of the biggest fear campaigns the left has run since January 6.
The Panic Factory Crockett Just Stepped Away From
Joy Behar said it in October – Trump wants martial law to stop the midterms.
James Carville has been warning audiences for months that democracy itself hangs on November's results.
Katie Couric suggested Trump's team may want to "mess with our elections."
Every MSNBC chyron for six months has been some variation of "Is This the Last Free Election?"
And Jasmine Crockett – who has called Trump every name in the book and made a career out of being his most theatrical opponent – just told her own audience she doesn't buy it.
She didn't even apologize for it.

She laid out the constitutional reality that most Americans with a high school civics education already understand: states run elections, governors certify results, and not enough of them would go along with something like that.
It took her about forty-five seconds to dismantle a narrative her party has been running for over a year.
The Fundraising Lie Crockett Wouldn't Tell
Here's what fires me up about this.
The Democratic Party built an entire political infrastructure around the idea that Trump is one executive order away from becoming a dictator who cancels elections.
Pelosi went on MSNBC and warned that Republicans would "creep into the technology" and "create a false count."
The View spent entire episodes treating the end of American democracy as a settled matter.
And it worked – as a fundraising tool.
Every time Joy Behar shrieked about martial law, ActBlue sent out another email, donations rolled in, and progressive media got another viral clip.
The problem is Jasmine Crockett watches the same constitution the rest of us do.
She knows what these commentators know and won't say: Trump can't cancel an election.
He doesn't have the authority.
The states don't have to cooperate.
The courts wouldn't allow it.

And the governors – even Republican ones – have their own political futures to protect.
Crockett still tried to thread the needle by predicting "election interference" through ICE deployments and bogus litigation.
But the base claim – the one that's been driving panic, clicks, and donations for eighteen months – she wouldn't touch.
Because she knows it's not true.
The elections are happening in November, Democrats know it, and Jasmine Crockett just proved it on camera.
Every dollar ActBlue raised off the martial law panic was a lie – and one of Trump's loudest critics just said so by accident.
