Donald Trump tuned into Fox News and got surprised by one bombshell announcement

Fox News is Donald Trump’s favorite cable news channel.

But Trump isn’t always happy with what he sees.

And now Donald Trump tuned into Fox News and got surprised by one bombshell announcement.

Y.M.C.A. singer gives Trump his blessing

Donald Trump closing events with his signature dance moves while the Village People’s 1970s disco-era anthem Y.M.C.A. blares over the loudspeakers now transcended the world of politics.

UFC champions, soccer players, and NFL stars all began busting out the dance following wins, goals, and touchdowns.

Trump winning the popular vote and the Electoral College in landslide fashion burst the dam on public displays of support for Trump since Trumpism was now the mainstream in America.

Trump began playing Y.M.C.A. and the Village People’s other hit song Macho Man at rallies in the 2020 campaign.

And Y.M.C.A. almost didn’t become the cultural touchstone it is today because lead singer Victor Willis told Fox News the group tries to avoid politics.

But Willis explained Trump – like all Republican politicians – runs into problems getting approval for music for their rallies.

Even though Trump and others pay money to license the songs, artists have the ability to make trouble by requesting the politician stop playing the songs at their events.

“I decided to allow the President-elect’s continued use of Y.M.C.A. because he seems to genuinely, genuinely like the song and so many other artists were stopping him from using their music,” Willis stated.

Willis said he chose not to go down that path because he saw how much the crowds had been dancing along with Trump to Y.M.C.A. at the close of his rallies.

“So I decided to contact BMI [Broadcast Music, Inc.] and told them not to terminate his political use license because he seemed to be bringing so much joy to the American people with his use of Y.M.C.A.” Willis continued.

Thanks to that decision, Y.M.C.A. is now one of the most identifiable political anthems of all time.

But Willis said the group would have a serious decision to make if Trump asked them to perform the song live as his inauguration.

Willis said the group doesn’t endorse political candidates, and performing at a Presidential inauguration could be viewed as a sign of approval for Trump.

“If you were to ask me today if the Village People would perform at the inauguration, I would probably say not because we’d be concerned about endorsement,” Willis added.

But Willis said Trump popularizing the song makes people happy, and it brings new recognition to the group as Y.M.C.A. becomes one of the most downloaded songs on streaming platforms, so he said any offer to perform at Trump’s inauguration would be given serious consideration.

“The president-elect has done so much for Y.M.C.A. and brought so much joy to so many people, the song has actually gone back to number one, and it’s still number one today, so if he were to ask the Village People to perform the song live for him, we’d have to seriously consider it,” Willis concluded.
