Barack Obama lies about illegal aliens not getting Obamacare
Former President Barack Obama and his Democrat allies in Congress told every lie possible to get the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, in 2010.
One of the biggest lies surrounding Obamacare was that illegal aliens wouldn’t get access to taxpayer-funded healthcare.
“There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants,” Obama said in a 2009 address to Congress. “This, too, is false — the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.”
This set up one of the more memorable moments of Obama’s Presidency when Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) called him out during the address.
“You lie!” Wilson shouted during the speech.
Wilson was scolded by Democrats and members of the Republican establishment for his outburst.
But he’s been vindicated after the Biden-Harris administration made a move to make some illegal aliens eligible for Obamacare next year.
This joins lies like Obama’s, “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor,” falsehood about Obamacare.
Illegal aliens are now eligible to sign up for Obamacare
Obamacare not being provided to illegal aliens became another of the numerous lies told about Obama’s government takeover of the healthcare system.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a rule that made illegal aliens in the country under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program eligible for Obamacare and taxpayer-subsidized healthcare.
DACA is an illegal program that Obama created through an executive order in 2012 without Congressional authorization that allowed some illegal aliens who were brought to the country as children to remain without being deported and gave them work permits.
Now, more than 535,000 DACA recipients are eligible to sign up for Obamacare with the open enrollment period underway.
The Biden White House estimates that more than 100,000 will sign up for Obamacare plans this year.
Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach (R) is leading a 19-state coalition in a federal lawsuit to stop that from happening.
“Illegal aliens shouldn’t get a free pass into our country,” Kobach said in an August statement. “They shouldn’t receive taxpayer benefits when they arrive, and the Biden-Harris administration shouldn’t get a free pass to violate federal law. That’s why I am leading a multistate lawsuit to stop this illegal regulation from going into effect.”
The lawsuit cites federal law that prevents illegal aliens from receiving public benefits and provisions in Obamacare that states illegal aliens are ineligible for it.
“In the ACA, Congress limited eligibility to participate in a qualified health plan through a subsidized health exchange to citizens or nationals of the United States and individuals ‘lawfully present’ in the United States,” the lawsuit states.
Making illegal aliens eligible for Obamacare is a final punch in the gut to American taxpayers by President Joe Biden on his way out the door.
