Donald Trump is making inroads with minority voters who traditionally vote Democrat.
It’s one of the big stories of the 2020 Election.
And Jen Psaki wanted to cry when she heard why black voters were supporting Trump.
Don Lemon breaks bad news to Jen Psaki
Former CNN host Don Lemon went viral with videos from the Jersey Shore, Ohio, and Pittsburg, where he had trouble finding Vice President Kamala Harris’ voters.
Lemon also encountered a large number of black men saying they were voting for former President Donald Trump.
Polls show Trump winning upwards of 20 percent of black voters and this development unnerved Democrats.
No one was more worried than former Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who had Lemon on her MSNBC show to discuss his reporting.
Lemon said what he heard in his man-of-the-street interviews shocked him.
“I don’t know if it was surprising but it was certainly eye-opening to hear so many people, even people of color and women, saying they are going to support Donald Trump. I am not quite sure that the polls are accurate as it relates to the tightening of the polls and who will support whom,” Lemon began.
He expressed frustration that black voters thought Donald Trump was better for the economy.
“But for the most part, in Pittsburgh or at the Jersey Shore and Atlantic City, in Ohio especially, many people did not know who she was. They were not familiar with her. So I think she has to reintroduce herself to the public. But for him, I think they thought he is better for the economy. Again, that he brought money into the community or that he was on black people’s side,” Lemon added.
Smear campaign falls flat
Psaki asked Lemon about how he’s repeatedly called Trump a racist on TV for years and if that had any effect.
He admitted it didn’t because voters were more interested in the fact that they had more money in their pockets when Trump was President.
This upset Lemon because the media’s been trying to tell voters the economy is wonderful for the last four years but that voters won’t buy it because of inflation.
“Is it surprising that so many African Americans are supporting him? A bit. But I also think people tend to romanticize the past and even though by most metrics, the economy is doing better and it’s on fire, what people do is they vote with prices. They vote with their wallets. Maybe the economy is better both can be true: the economy can be better but prices are higher and people have less money and less resources to put towards high prices and to feed their families,” Lemon continued.
The media has done everything in its power for the last nine years to expunge Donald Trump from American politics.
But even voters that are traditionally most loyal to the Democrat Party are no longer buying the media narrative.
