James Carville wants to end John Fetterman’s political career
U.S. Senator John Fetterman marches to the beat of his own drum since taking office.
He found himself on an island in the Democrat Party when he became one of the outspoken defenders of President Joe Biden before he was forced to exit the race.
And he’s been in a feud with veteran Democrat strategist James Carville that’s starting to boil over.
Carville warned on his Politics War Room podcast that he would “deal with” Fetterman after the election.
“One of the great backstabbers in modern Democratic politics is John Fetterman,” Carville said. “But I’m going to wait ’til after the election to deal with him. But he’s somebody that must be dealt with, and must be dealt with in real terms.”
Fetterman reportedly worked behind the scenes to tank Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as a potential running mate pick for Vice President Kamala Harris.
That led her to pick Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Fetterman and Shapiro reportedly clashed when they served together on the Pennsylvania parole board together.
The Pennsylvania Senator wanted to show more leniency than Shapiro.
His team reportedly told Harris’ Vice Presidential vetting team that the Pennsylvania Governor was primarily interested in benefiting himself and his career.
Carville’s co-host Al Hunt accused Fetterman of trying to “sandbag” Shapiro.
“And, of course, the reason he’s in the United States Senate is because of Shapiro,” Carville stated. “If you look at the Pennsylvania election returns, 2022, and you’ll get the idea of how Josh dragged this guy across the finish line.”
Carville was one of the Democrats who were lobbying for Harris to pick Shapiro because of his more moderate credentials and his potential to deliver Pennsylvania, the biggest swing state this year.
Fetterman denies playing a role in the Vice Presidential sweepstakes
Fetterman told MSNBC that he had nothing to do with Shapiro being passed over by Harris.
“I just don’t understand why we’re talking about a choice that was already made. I was very clear that the Vice President is perfectly capable of picking whoever they want,” Fetterman said. “And [Walz]’s right on the stage right now in Wisconsin, and why are we talking about this weird stuff? I don’t understand that.”
Carville was one of the first Democrats to publicly sound the alarm on Biden’s re-election chances last year.
That’s when Fetterman took a dead aim at the strategist.
“And I’m very vocal about this, too, while there are Democrats that are being very critical about the President . . . I’ll use this [as] another opportunity to tell James Carville to shut the f**k up,” Fetterman told Politico. “Like I said, my man hasn’t been relevant since grunge was a thing. And I don’t know why he believes it’s helpful to say these kinds of things about an incredibly difficult circumstance with an incredibly strong and decent and excellent president. I’ll never understand that.”
It appears that James Carville has set himself on a collision course with John Fetterman after Election Day.
