Kamala Harris is riding high right now.
But her allies worry it could all come crashing down.

James Carville tells Harris not to campaign on her bio
Democrats don’t want to campaign on issues.
Democrats want this election to be about “vibes.”
The Harris campaign wants the American people to view this election as a contrast between biography and what they think the candidates represent as opposed to what they stand for.
With Harris, the media and her campaign want to present her as this historic, Obama-like figure.
But Democrat strategist James Carville has some concerns about how the Harris campaign pitches her to voters.
Carville warned that Harris – whose parents were both college professors – didn’t possess an “All-American” biography.
“Her bio is not all-American . . . she doesn’t have a up by the bootstraps story. I mean, I think she grew up relatively affluent,” Carville told Never-Trump activist Bill Kristol on a recent episode of Kristol’s podcast.
Unlike J.D. Vance – who legitimately grew up in a rough home environment – Harris lived a life of comfort.
“I mean, college professors don’t starve to death. I don’t know . . . She can talk about it, but I don’t think her bio is . . . the kind of thing she’s going to win this on. It’s fine to talk about it, experiences she had,” Carville added.
Carville’s advice
Carville claimed that Harris should instead emphasize her past as the District Attorney of San Francisco and the Attorney General of California because voters always like tough on crime prosecutors.
“I think if I were her, in terms of my past experience, I would talk more about being an AG and being a kind of consumer advocate, and being a DA and being tough on crime, seems to be kind of in right now, if I say so myself. I’ve never been very much of a pro-crime guy,” Carville continued.

The problem for Harris
Harris running on her biography has its challenges.
When voters hear “San Francisco District Attorney” and “California Attorney General,” the last images that come to mind are of a prosecutor keeping criminals off the streets.
Harris also can’t run on her time as a Senator or Vice President.
At best, Kamala Harris accomplished nothing in either position.
At worst, Harris was the most far-left Senator in 2019 and is joined at the hip with Joe Biden on one of the most unpopular agendas in American history during his Presidency.
But these are the choices Democrats face now that they swapped out Joe Biden for Kamala Harris.
