Fans will be celebrating KFC’s latest potential addition.
The Colonel is turning back the clock to bring back one of its fan favorites.
And KFC is testing one new menu item in Nashville that will make you want to book a flight.
KFC testing twister wraps
Wraps are one of the most enduring items in fast food for people who are looking for something easy to eat on the go.
At the height of the low-carb craze in 2010, KFC debuted Twister Wrap, only to discontinue it in 2014.
The Twister Wrap featured two extra crispy chicken strips, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a signature pepper mayo wrapped in a tortilla.
Since then, KFC has carried limited-time runs of wraps, including the Mac & Cheese Chicken Wrap which combined the chain’s mac and cheese and chicken tenders in a tortilla.
After popular demand, the chain could be on the verge of resurrecting the wrap that started them all.
The KFC Twister Wrap and the Spicy Twister Wrap – which swaps the pepper mayo for a spicy sauce – are being tested at locations throughout the Nashville, Tennessee, area.
KFC reported that they’ve received more than 42,000 mentions from people asking that the discontinued item be brought back to the menu.
If demand is strong enough in Nashville, then the fan favorite could be headed back to menus nationwide at some point in the future.
For fans of chicken wraps, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, and Wendy’s are currently offering their own versions.
KFC is getting creative to keep up with the competition
While KFC fans are waiting for the Twister Wraps to return, the chain rolled out Saucy Nuggets to compete in the crowded fast-food chicken nugget market.
Somewhere between a nugget and a boneless wing, these delicious creations are covered in one of five available sauces: Georgia Gold, Nashville Hot, Korean BBQ, Honey Sriracha, and Sticky Chicky Sweet ‘n Sour Sauce.
And in the mold of the legendary KFC Double Down, which swapped bread for two fried chicken patties, the chain rolled out its latest chicken innovation.
The Chizza is a boneless fried chicken that is piled high with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and crispy pepperoni.
“Fried chicken and pizza collaborated to create something even better – the Chizza,” KFC CMO Nick Chavez said. “The fan-favorite mashup is finally available in the U.S. after making its way around the world – try it while you can!”
