Mike Johnson got one bad endorsement that confirmed the worst about the Swamp

May 1, 2024

House Speaker Mike Johnson rolled over and gave Democrats everything they wanted.

One terrible establishment figure resurfaced to applaud this infuriating betrayal.

And Mike Johnson got one bad endorsement that confirmed the worst about the Swamp.

House RINOs give Joe Biden a big Election-Year victory

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) turned control of the House of Representatives over to Democrats in the biggest political fight of the year.

Johnson and House RINOs joined with Democrats to pass a package of foreign aid bills that gave $1 billion in aid to Gaza that will almost certainly end up in the hands of Hamas, as well as $26 billion to Israel and more than $60 billion to the failed war in Ukraine.

President Joe Biden and the Democrats got exactly what they wanted from the Republican-controlled House.

For months, Johnson claimed that he was going to draw a line in the sand.

Any additional aid to secure Ukraine’s border had to include border security for the United States.

But in the end, he caved to Democrats by refusing to fight to secure America’s border.

Republicans came into 2024 with a plan to leverage their control of the House as a way to force Biden into concessions on spending and the border.

Washington, D.C. insider outlet Punchbowl News summed up succinctly how badly Johnson played his hand.

“Instead, Biden has gotten pretty much everything he’s asked for from this Congress without having to concede much in return,” Punchbowl News reported. “Yet in the end, Biden has emerged as the big winner. On government funding, on FISA, and now on Ukraine and Israel, Biden got what he wanted.”

Paul Ryan praises Mike Johnson for his capitulation to Democrats

Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan re-emerged from the depths of the Swamp to heap praise on Johnson for getting the foreign aid bills passed.

“I think he found his footing, and his voice. [H]e did it as a statesman, risking his own personal political fortune for the greater good that he believes in,” Ryan told Axios.

Johnson never put border security up for a vote with his majority.

A former aide to Ryan pointed out that House Republicans no longer had functional control over the chamber.

“A Party unable to bring its agenda to the floor for a vote is no longer a functional majority,” former Ryan staffer Brendan Buck wrote in a New York Times op-ed.

The media, Democrats, and establishment Republicans praised Johnson for securing the passage of the foreign aid bills in a rare display of Swamp unity.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough treated him like a hero and applauded him for his “courage.”

The worst actors in politics praising Mike Johnson for selling out conservatives confirms that he’s working to serve the Swamp.
