Congress made the Bible illegal with this scary vote

May 3, 2024

Freedom of speech is under attack like never before in Joe Biden’s America.

But all hell is about to break loose.

And now Congress made the Bible illegal with this scary vote.

Congress reacts to anti-Semitic protests on college campuses

Alleged anti-Semitic protests on college campuses are out of control.

Packs of leftists are calling for the genocide of Jews, violently occupying buildings, and disrupting classes.

Violence and trespassing aren’t protected speech and Americans are wondering why it’s taking so long for college administrators to call in the police and begin arresting these hoodlums.

But now Congress is getting involved.

The House of Representatives passed HR 6090 by a vote of 320-91.

This legislation adds new speech codes to federal anti-discrimination laws, which conservatives pointed out makes it illegal to repeat Bible verses.

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) was one of 21 Republicans who voted against the bill.

Gaetz warned that the bill’s authors’ adopted such a broad definition of anti-Semitism that Bible verses would now violate federal law.

“Antisemitism is wrong, but this legislation is written without regard for the Constitution, common sense, or even the common understanding of the meaning of words. The Gospel itself would meet the definition of antisemitism under the terms of this bill!” Gaetz posted on X.

“The bill says the definition of antisemitism includes ‘contemporary examples of antisemitism’ identified by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). One of those examples includes: ‘…claims of Jews killing Jesus,’” Gaetz added.

“The Bible is clear. There is no myth or controversy on this. Therefore, I will not support this bill,” Gaetz concluded.

Bible verses in question

Gaetz cited the scripture he now believed would run afoul of federal law.

They were:

Acts 4:10

Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him this man is standing before you well.

1 Thessalonians 2:14-16

For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus which are in Judea; for you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews, who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and oppose all men by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they may be saved—so as always to fill up the measure of their sins.

Acts 3:14-15

You denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

Conservatives share Gaetz’s concerns

Gaetz’s fellow Floridian, Byron Donalds, also raised the alarm about how this legislation broadened the scope of “hate speech” that Democrats could use to target conservatives.

There is no such thing as “hate speech.”

“Hate speech” is Constitutionally protected speech.

Democrats label opposition to homosexual marriage, transgender surgeries for minors, and open borders as “hate speech.”

Leftists want “hate speech” designations because labeling speech as dangerous or threatening allows them to criminalize and censor conservative views.

Conservatives opposed to this bill all oppose anti-Semitism and want to ensure the safety of Jewish students on campus.

Pundit Ben Shapiro explained that they want to fight back against anti-Semitism on college campuses and for Congress to exercise its power of the purse.

“Our campuses are left-wing activism training centers. Remove their taxpayer funding. WV miners should not subsidize gender studies major Hamas fans,” Shapiro wrote.

“The solution is NOT to pass a bad bill, adding yet more free speech violations to the giant free speech violation that is Title VI,” Shapiro concluded.
